Default Hey Austin and San Antonio Friends

Me and a friend are planning a weekend roadtrip. Haven't decided if it will be Austin or San Antonio or both yet.

But we are trying to get some ideas of fun things to do in the area. Not in the mood for museums and such.

Well that depends on what yall like to do and when you plan on coming. Austin has 6th street with all its clubs and music and the rest of the downtown area with lots of shopping and food also lots of places to eat and party on the river and at the lake but it's lots of outdoor stuff and it is kind of cold. San Antonio has a lot of the same ie the River Walk but once again outdoor stuff. It is still a good time at both places, just bring warm clothes.

I have a similar question, but more specifically, what will the day/night weather condition be like for the inaugural F1 in mid November? Arguably, there will be alot of walking day and night and I'm guessing patio bars and restaurants. What kind of clothing will be required (shorts/jackets etc.)

Any thoughts as to where and what the night action will be? We used to love the Indianapolis USGP because of the street parties. The police and firefighters put on a fundraising dance with beer and food sales and live DJ and dancing. It was great. Any thoughts about Austin doing similar? What are the likely hotels where the teams and celebs will stay? Will we need a car to get around downtown or is that a waste of time. Based on what we read, track access for cars will by a trying affair.

Any other thoughts?

Also, I've heard that a number of streets get closed off for pedestrian traffic in the evening. Does anyone know which streets (from where to where)? Any recommendations for good music and bars?
