The drag strip is right next to the speedway. We wouldn't be leaving to go anywhere. I thought that maybe between the different races we could go over and make a run or two. Of course it will all depend on the events at the moment. I'll see if I can find out anything more about the races.
I'm so ready to go. We will certainly have to take some pics to post up of us on the parade lap. This is going to be such a cool night.

I have a digital camera that can also take videos and I'd love to figure out how to mount it on my dash while we do our lap - talk about a cool perspective to share!
john and kevin, i look forward to seeing you all at the gtg...i will be coming up on friday night and might try the old town show again. then to sea world saturday morning...then catch up and meet all the others on saturday around 4 pm...i can't wait. my g/f doesn't like speeding (weaving and breaking and what not) oh well...she can deal with it!!!
then we will be going to disney on sun most likely.
what a great weekend!
as for I-4...i have done well over 120 on that road, until an aston martin db decided to put me in my place...its lots of fun to weave across 3 and 4 lane roads...i just hope its not raining.

He also said that if we could get a few more cars together for another night, to plan it, he would let us get on the track together and then do like a car show after. VERY COOL IMO!!! The drag strip will be open Sat night, but he didn't have any details about times or stuff. Everyone game to do the parade lap before the race???
We'll have to be sure that we are out of dinner by 5:30 so that we will have enough time to get across town.
We could do the drag strip if anyone is interested, just need a helmet. I'm game, anyone else?

Quinton,
I'll get you directions out very soon. I'm going to go with Carrabba's as our dinner spot unless I find someplace better this weekend. I just want to check out a few things first before I send directions.
Cliff, If you want to do Old Town on Friday night, the 18th, let me know for sure and I'll see if I can join you out there. I wanted to go back with my wife one night anyway so she could see the show and parade.
I'm very excited about meeting everyone, 15 days and counting!!!

Ok, I've got directions for everyone.
I'll start with Dan and Quinton:
Come down 75 to the turnpike. Take the turnpike to Orlando to exit 259 which will take you to I-4. When you come off the turnpike off ramp get to the left side because you want to take I-4 West to Tampa. Once you are on I-4, stay to the right side because you will be getting off at exit 75b, Kirkman Rd North. From the turnpike to exit 75b on I-4 is maybe a mile, if that. As soon as your on I-4 you will see the signs for Kirkman Rd.
For Clif and Sharon:
From I-4 going into Orlando, take exit 75b, Kirkman Rd North.
For everyone except Kevin,
Once on Kirkman get to the right lane and you will be turning right onto Vineland. This should be the second light that you come upon. When you turn onto Vineland, get in the left lane as soon as you can because Carrabba's is right there on your left. I don't think it's a mile from I-4.
I drove up there this evening and checked out the location and they have a very nice parking lot that we can all line up next to each other for a great display. They even had a Black Roadster parked there this evening.
This place is super easy to find.

We will be following each other to the speedway from Carrabba's, but I still wanted to give you all the directions just in case. You will each need to have $4 in quarters for tolls except Kevin, you'll only need $2.
We will turn left from Carrabba's onto Vineland until we get to Conroy. You might want to stay to the right because we will be turning right on Conroy. Conroy is about 3 lights up on Vineland. DO stay in the right lane as you turn onto Conroy because just over the overpass we will be getting on I-4 going east to Orlando. We will take the 408 toll, exit 82-a, on the right side and follow this ramp around till it double lanes and then we are going to take the 408 east to Titusville. This will be almost an immediate right once the lane doubles. You will also have a merge from your right as you need to get into that right lane. We will take the 408 across Orlando till we get to the E Colonial Dr exit, exit 23. Take a right onto Colonial Dr and we will be about 6 miles straight to the speedway.
While on the 408 you will have to pay a toll three times, the quarters!!!
When we get off the 408 onto Colonial Dr, there is a new Speedway gas station on the right. This might be a good place to stop before we get to the track so that if anyone needs to fuel up, drain, or want a refreshment to go, you can do so then.

Clif,
You need to see either Joe or Lee at Old Town. I haven't had a chance to verify with my wife yet, but I don't see a problem with us being there since she doesn't work that weekend. This is going to be such a great couple of days. We will be putting our Crossfires on display and be in two parades in two days. Are these cars special or what???
I can't believe that with all the members in FLA and around Orlando that view currently, we don't have more of our forum members joining us. We must not have that many that view the regions threads is all that I can think of. I sent out about a dozen PM's and didn't even get a single response. All the south FL people were all over our thread till Sharon made one for just them and now nothing more from them either.
Maybe we need to post a link to any replies that we make for the next few days to direct them here. I'm going to make us dinner reservations in a few days so that they can have a table for 9 ready for us. If anyone else wanted to join before I do that, it wouldn't make a difference, we still have time. I know the six of us will have a great time on Saturday.

Clif,
The number for Old Town is 407.396.4888. http://www.old-town.com/
I don't believe that you need to call anyone. I was told that we were welcome to show up any time we wanted. Joe is the person that runs the car show. Lee was the guy that registered us at the front.
