Friday Night - 7/18: 1/4mi Fun

For those of you that can make it up or down for the whole weekend we'll be going to Orlando Speedworld for "Street Drags". It's pretty much a Test n' Tune night but it'll give us a chance to see what our cars are made of against other tuner cars. I've been years back and there's a healthy amount of different cars.

Cost: $10 to watch, $15 to run <-- it's a nominal amount to have a lot of fun

Depending on how many people confirm for a Friday arrival, we'll schedule to meet up somewhere over on the east side of Orlando and have dinner, take pictures and what-not the even gets closer

Afterward, there's always a good chance of going to a local bar to have a good time and wait for Saturday.

Saturday - 7/19: Meet and Greet and HIN

Meet and Greet - 2pm
Plan to meet up at the same place as the 07 March GTG. It was a pretty big lot and is very easy to get on/off the East/West Expressway

We'll want to leave around 4 or so since it takes about 1/2 hour to get over to the dinner destination. It'll also be a good time to whip out the video cameras for a nice caravan down the East/West Expressway ($1.25 in tolls to I-4)

Dinner - 5pm

For dinner, I'm going to talk to the manager at Sam's Bar and Bistro in Metro West to reserve some space for us. I doubt it will be a problem but it's a great atmosphere and the food is good and relatively priced. Even if they can't it won't be that busy anyway and we'll probably take over the place but I should know the next time I go to Orlando.

Hot Import Nights - 8pm

For those who want to go we'll be heading over there at about this time, or possibly earlier. The event goes until midnight so time really isn't a factor except for traffic. Not everyone has to go but if you can make it great, if you can't then it's not the end of the world (we won't hate you for it).

If you're not keen on the event, go to http://www.hotimportnights.com/home.asp . In a nutshell, it's crazy modded import cars with scantily clad women, with music, and lots of people. I've never been to the event but always wanted to go and it's the closest it'll ever be this year.

Price: $30 (guesstimate based off the most recent event price) tickets should go on sale in mid-June
Time: 5pm - Midnight

I'm trying to work out a possible discount for our "car club" so it could end up being cheaper.

Ashley just told me that she wants to come to the Orlando GTG. I guess I might need 2 helmuts.

Let's hope not ...I'm awaiting an e-mail about the guidelines since they aren't posted on their site. If there's enough of us there we could always swap helmets if we're staggered enough through the line

 

I've been on Wed nights before and they run two groups, a faster group, (those with helmets) and then the suppose to be slower group, those without helmets. I know on Wed nights, the helmet group is always smaller than the everyone else group. If you get into the 12's, I'm pretty sure they'll want you with a helmet. I've never been on Fridays, so I don't know what kind of crowd they draw. I'll ask around.

 

She tourns 18 on May 29th. I am sure that her BF will probably come up. He is getting ready to buy a 350 Z. Seems he does not want a XF because Ashley has one and he thinks he can do a lot more mods with the Z. Which is probably true.

Gator is there an age requirement to race?

 

I talked to one of the regulars today, who runs in the "fast lane." Fast lane cars are 12.0 and faster.

 

Gato can you hit 12 or faster?

 

I'm so looking to my first Crossfire GTG! I live only 10 minutes from the track, so I'm in for the drags and dinner on Saturday! Looking forward to meeting all of you attending!

I added a +1. My son will probably join me at the Friday night drags and wife at the Saturday gtg. I have yet tried to drag race my car and hopefully I can beat my GTI's best of 13.6 .
