Default Southeast CAA Convoy

We are now 4 cruising up on Sunday/Monday. Are there any others that care to join us along the I-75/I-24/I-57/I-64 corridor to St Louis?

Post here, or send me a PM.

Dan:

Roberta & I may miss you guys altogether on Sunday, as we'll be about an hour ahead of you on I-75N (based on our timetable vs. yours). And I can't drive SLOOOOOOOOW in the XFire! Ain't happenin'!

But we should be able to meet up with you on Monday AM. Right after you get back on I-24W, you'll cross into KY after about only 5-6 miles. We could meet you guys there & 'hook-up' for the remaining jaunt to Harrah's.

Let me know.

For those that may be traveling I-40W/I-24W/I-57N or taking I-64W across VA/WVA/KY/IN/IL, consider coordinating your trip to join us either at the KY Greeting Center on I-24W or near the junction of I-57/I-64 near Mount Vernon, IL.

I figure on Monday across the Midwest, from all directions, XFire Owners will be generating some Interstate CB-talk & making spectacles of ourselves!

That's how it should be!

Steve, it was a pleasure to finally meet you after following your threads here and elsewhere for the past year or so. Hope to see you in October @ Fontana.

Made it home after a drive from the boro to Clarksville. Guys I wish I could've continued on to St. Louis with you. I know y'all are going to have a blast.

Well, we made it to Nashville without incident. Bought gas in Manchester, TN. Paid $2.79 per gallon; about the same as back home in SC. Got 27.1 mpg; not bad for a performance coupe running 80 mph most of the way!

We freshened up and then took the hotel shuttle down to the 'music district' along Broadway in downtown Nashville. While we were consuming nutrition at a local eatery along Broadway, we saw a SSB XFire Roadster pull up to the stoplight at the intersection of Broadway & 4th. If you follow this Forum, let us know who we saw.

Plan to start the 2nd leg of our CAA trek tomorrow AM and hope to join danimal & others near the KY state line.

I've made this trip so much handling my folks' affairs in KCMO (since their passing over the past 2-yr period) that I tend to let the scenery go by without paying much attention to it. I probably could do this drive in my sleep.

Traffic around Atlanta was typical insaneness. Spent much of our attention watching the 'other guy' as folks drive with near careless abandon. Lane switching without hardly any signaling. Once we split off of I-75N onto I-24W, our jaunt across the southern edge of the Smokey Mountain chain started. This section of our trek was uneventful and the XFire held her own with the other traffic. We made a stop for lunch at a GA Rest Stop. Berta packed sandwiches from home and we enjoyed 'people watching' while we 'snarfed down the eats & drinks'. (You see the full gamut of characters at a rest stop during a holiday weekend!) Nothing else really happened along our trip that merits mentioning here. Still hot in the SE-USA. Probably hot for everyone else in Elsewhere, USA.

Tomorrow the majority of CAA trekies arrive at Harrah's. Going to be a stellar event this week!

Later,

Dennis, we are having too much fun!!!! I guess we will catch you in St Louie as we will be taking our time this morning....recovering from last night.

It will probably be 10 or later before we hit the road. I think we have squeezed every bit of fun out of this so far and we aren't ready to stop yet. My sides hurt from laughing with John and Ella last night, with Nick and Deb carrying on something terrible!

If we can find an IHOP, they are in trouble this morning. See you there.
