k&n's + dead maf = anyone yet ?
so i am wondering when and if we will get our first dead mass air flow sensors from k&n users... the oil used in k&n's slowly coats the MAF and makes it malfunction on many cars as reported by their users, including several well know modders mags experiencing this on their buildup cars...
have we had any people with dead MAF + k&n's ? i am wishing ITG would make drop in filters for this car... time to email them...

The first dead MAF will be the person that over-oils the filter after cleaning, installs it and takes off. If you use the recommended amount of oil it should never be a problem. But, just for a little insurance, I always let mine sit for a day or two after oiling (wrapped in newspaper) to make sure that there is no excess oil to coat the MAF. Have used this procedure for more years than I care to count, and I have never had a problem.

i learned to go light on the re-oiling.
Danimal is right on target, its going to take someone who doesn't know how to read directions for this to happen. If you know how to read your going to be alright.
This hold true for all oil type air filters and maf sensors.
As long as you don't over oil it should be fine.
K&N and others have sold millions of filters and they do work.
If they always destroyed the maf what would be the point...

Well I've joined the No Longer Stock set by installing my new K&N filters today. They were my second purchase, but my first mod. Hopefully I'm a long way from re-oiling, so no foreseeable risk to my MAF at this point. I was pretty amazed at how dirty the stock filters were after 3,946 miles. I even found a dried up leaf on top of the left filter...I guess that's a good reason for having a filter...to prevent sucking leaves into the intake.
