Cluster Illumination color change
I just purchased a 2005 Limited. Right off the bat, i noticed the nice GREEN lighting for the instrument cluster. I really like blue, so I was wanting to know if anyone has changed their color yet? As per the service manual, it looks like the cluster has regular bulbs, and could be replaced with LEDs (the drop in kind, not the solder type) such as superbrightleds.com has. I wanted to know BEFORE i purchase the leds if the cluster has green film, which would make the use of blue leds a mute point, or were the bulbs green? Any info would be GREAT!
I believe the cluster itself is green. I saw some talk on an SLK320 forum a while back where SLK owners were swapping out their entire cluster (which is orange) for the green Crossfire one. BTW, blue illumination will ruin your night vision. Green's not much better, actually. If you're going to change colors consider going to orange or red.
I did a search........AFTER you said too....still not much info out there. I did see where in the SRT4 forums they did the change. After all the reading, I am still left with this question.....is the SRT4 cluster the same as ours? And the bulbs sizes the same also?

"SLK" != "SRT4" Check out this link at benzworld.org. There are several others there as well if you do a search.
