Hi guys been a while since i posted any thing still loving my xf still loving life however.

I am due the 1st service just over 7 thousand miles on it but i have notice oh yes i have noticed...this.

Coolant light/radiator light came on console so i pulled over & toped it up with water 20 mins later noticed i am in the red overheating pulled over waited 35 mins. Then went over to gas station opened the cap and noticed there is water in there toped up again. The light is still on & the car again overrated ? Why would the light be still on ? And why is she overheating anyone know calling the service dept tomorrow morning if anyone has any idea's or info please let me know thanks.

Did you hear/see the radiator fan kick in at all? If not check the wiring to the fan control module (the gray finned metal box 6"x4" on the RH inner wing behind the headlamp). If you have water in the header tank I don't think you are loosing coolant.

You know what i've noticed the fan on before but i must say i haven't noticed it on today. I was on the m1 & i did 145+ mph just after getting back into london. It happened so who knows it might of been that. Thanks for your advice. Did you have you car services yet? If so what was the cost & how many miles did you service it at. If its the fan wiring or something like that i am sure the warrantee should cover it. But why would that light be still on? Hummm.

There is a TSB on the cooling fan maybe that could be the problem.

Ask them to check for a sticky thermostat while they are at it...

The light you are referring to means that the coolant temp. is HI which will eventually lead to an overheated engine it doesn't necessarily mean that you are out of coolant. The reason for the coolant temp being HI is that the fan has seized to operate. There is a recall for the control module that operates the cooling fan. I've had this recall performed on all my XFire's and my Benz and haven't had a problem since.
