Default Accessories on the cheap: Suggestions?

I bought my 2005 XF Limited about a week ago and discovered this forum today.

I've been reading through a lot of the threads and would like to ask you all for some suggestions for someone who is NOT interested in time consuming projects or souping up the car. I really am not a car hobbyist.
I'm happy with the way the stock SF looks... but might want to check into spoiler grills, blue stem valve caps and minor eye candy items.

Basically I'm looking for minor mods/accessories on the cheap.

I like what I'm reading about the sprint booster, as we all know the acceleration lag on the Automatics.
Not sure if I want to drop $250. I'd like to remove the acceleration lag AND increase fuel economy (when not stomping the accelerator).

I'm also considering the K&N(?) air filters, but my mechanic suggested I not bother with them. What are the advantages with going with the filter/duel filter system? I installed one on my old Eclipse and was pleased... until I had to clean it. It was a real bear getting the canister out of the engine.

I also really liked the way the illuminated plates look, but I'm not going to bother with that type of project.

I also would consider minor HP boosting modifications. Not wanting any programmable chips.

Any suggestions and recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks and this is a great site.

Congrats and welcome.

I am with. My SRT6 is stock and I am happy with it. The only thing I may look into is the Sprint Booster.

The sprint booster might be the best mod you will ever do on the automatic crossfire. start with that then see if you really want to start paying more for mods.

I wouldn't suggest going with an ECU reprogram unless your willing to tank up with 100 octane and can live with 18 mpg...

As for the K&N filters, they are a waste of money, you might gain about 1-2 hp, hardly anything you will feel seat of the pants. not to mention they allow more dirt to get ingested in the engine and causes oil contamination. You will not be happy with them. They are also know to damage the MAF sensor because people over oil their filters. If yo u damage this part it will cost about $300 to replace.

Why do you say an ECU reprogram requires 100 octane fuel and live with lower mileage? I have the Upsolute reflash
and my car runs just fine on 91 octane. The mileage has stayed the same.

For the $$, the sprint booster is the way to go. I did the Illuminated sills...love them and they look sharp with my Aeroblue roadster...

You might want to spring for the Crossfire floor mats...they are on my Christmas list, and I did take the plunge and paid $1.99 for a pair of blind side mirrors that help with my visibility.

Good luck!

Light up washer nozzles?
Fuzzie steering wheel cover?
Playboy air freshener?
Some cheap stuff is just cheap...
You could look into the capacitor radio mod if you are unhappy with the sound.

Well usually after a reflash the timing is made a little more aggressive, and requires higher octane, but you already knew that.

Doesn't Upsolute has various stages of reflashed mapping, so I guess you can get by on 91 gas? This is another issue I have with these companies that remap our ECU's, we never really know what they did if at all anything. Anychance you can get a print out of the cells and compare before and after?

Cheap mods for a Crossfire. Check of the front grille mod from SRTSIX and the stereo cap mod. That's about all thats "cheap". Remember, You bought a very nice car with a lot of class. Don't try to get cheap with it.

Lol. Thanks. The illuminated sills do look sharp.

I'm not sure, but my XF may have come with the mats... do they have "Crossfire" printed on them?

Tell me more about these blind side mirrors. Visibility is an issue.
I hope you don't mean those little stick on disc. But if you paid $1.99, then you probably do.

:P First stop... Wal-mart! I'm pleased with the sound, though I may replace the dash unit some day. What is this capacitor radio mod you speak of?

Where can I find pricing on the SRT-6 grilles? I perused the chrysler website accessories, but didn't see any grilles.
And what I meant by cheap was... I didn't want to spend $100s or $1ks to trick-out, tune or whatever the term is these days for souping up cars.

As for the class.. wow. Had I any idea the amount of attention I'd be getting, I'd seriously considered not getting it.

Now, there was a locomotive conductors air horn I was considering... :P

The low cost grill mod mentioned was "new look for less": https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ad.php?t=11499

Total mod cost is around $15.

Look on ebay. I just got a set for mine. They look great. Cost a little over $100.00 bucks. Looks a lot better than the stock mats. Check out the "Christmas gifts for the crossfire" thread.

Read the "biggest bang for the buck" thread.

You could go to a truck stop and get the horn and some mud flaps with the "silver lady's" on them. Boy, That would be sharp.

If you want to make your limited look really cool I suggest you order the front SRT6 lip, get the srt6 rims, and maybe bolt on the rear diffusers that fill in the gaps in the rear bumper.
After that, try the srt6 sway bars and maybe the borla exhaust.
Hardly any of which are cheap, but they will look and sound great!

My XF does not come with the premium mats. But the dealer sells them for $89 a set.
