Default Chrome Grill & Lower Bumper Inserts

I'm getting ready to purchase a chrome grill & the slotted lower bumper inserts for my SRT6 from Autoexclusive.com. I was wondering if anyone could post a picture or refer me to a gallery where I could see what these items looked like together on a crossfire? I'm just not so sure I will like the lower bumper slotted inserts so it would be great if I could see a good picture, (front view) of what another members Crossfire looked like with both of these together.
Thanks in advance to anybody that can help me out.

Do you have a link to the items on autoexclusive.com?

I'm thinking I had went to their site and it was under construction, but I've been to so many site's looking for Crossfire aftermarket parts I can't say for sure. I've e-mailed them (James) inquiring about their products and I have seen pictures, but they were close ups of single items not really showing a good front end full picture of what they look like together.

Their site is under construction. You need to go to e-bay and find him there. Maybe you should just "ask the seller" a question and tell him you're with the forum. I'm sure he'll give you a discount.

Yes, I have told him that belonged to this forum and he has given me a pretty good discount on any of the products that I would like to purchase. But at this moment I'm just going with the 3 piece grill set and the lower bumper inserts. I would like to do the side grills and windscreen too, but then I would have that silver door handle sticking out like a sore thumb. So I think I'll wait till someone comes out with a door handle before I do the side grills and windscreen.

I went with the chrome for the grill/fins/oem wheels ect. I plan on pulling the door handles and get them painted to match the color of the car. Tried to find someone to chrome them with no success.

I had started this thread hoping someone would see it and post up a good front view picture of their car with the 3 piece grill set and the slotted lower bumper inserts so I could see what they looked like together before I bought them. I had exhausted my self looking through people's galleries trying to find a picture of what they looked like together. In my opinion the grill should have been chrome from the factory, as for the rest of stuff like the windscreen, side grills and door handles, I kind of like the silver theme they got going on. Even the wheels on my SRT6 have some of the silver on them with polished aluminum and I was afraid that all that chrome might be a little too much BLING for my taste, but I may change my mind if I ever see a XFire with all that on it in real life. I am going to look into getting the little ABS plastic piece behind the side grills chromed, I just haven’t had time to look. As far as the door handles go, I have seen a thread somewhere on the forum where a member was trying to get a company or someone to make a chrome cover to go over the handles.

Not sure what the "slotted" lower grille inserts look like, but I have VMaxx aluminum (diamond) lower grilles installed in my car (as well as CTD chrome accessories). Don't know if its what you are going for, but feel free to browse through my gallery.

Your gallery looks great. You have some very tasteful mods that are discrete and look OEM. Well done.

Here are some sales shots of the VMaxx slotted lower grille inserts. VMaxx makes three versions of the lower grille -- the diamond pattern you have; the slotted pattern below; and one with small round holes. I have the slotted version too, but haven't installed it yet. Believe it or not, the installation instructions are written only in German, and two good friends of mine who grew up in Germany and now live in the US have trouble understanding what it says to do. The part that makes no sense involves the hook bracket into which the screw is inserted; the location where it is attached to the bumper is unspecified. Assuming that all three of the VMaxx versions attach in the same way, how did you determine where to place the bracket? Thanks.

And, damn, your front plates are rather large, aren't they? Arizona doesn't require front plates; that certainly keeps the front end looking cleaner, but you probably have no choice about it.

xfirecorea,
I completely agree with Maxxm. You have done a very nice job mod-ing your XF. This car looks great when the Mods are not over the top.

Thanks for the compliments. As you have pointed out, the standard South Korean front license is WAY too big for its own good. Luckily, the government has just recently issued white European spec license plates (the slender and elongated ones) for both front and rear. Although it's not mandatory to replace the old licenses for the new issues, I think I am going to go ahead and make the switch anyway, for the sake of showing off the X-fires good looks as it was originally intended. ^^

In regards to installing the lower aluminum grilles, I had an enormous amount of trouble installing the bracket that you are talking about. The left one wasn't too difficult as the bracket locks quite well into the grill "support". The right-hand side is a completely different matter. It requires you to actually get behind the bumper in order to secure the bracket in the most adequate position (which would mean having to raise the car first to get under and behind the bumper). Even after all that trouble, the install was shaky at best.

Although it may sound low-tech, I think the tried and true way of zip-tying the grill to the support beams would probably work best, or if you don't have any reason to change the grille back to the OEM ones after install, then I suggest using silicon to make a permanent attachment. Hope this helps. ^^

There's no question that the euro spec plates will be a significant improvement for you over the present set up. You have probably read the posts from the many members of this board who do not use the front plate regardless of state law requirements and have not had problems doing so for years, some even for decades. I have a feeling, however, that the situation just might be a little different in South Korea...

As for the permanent install of the lower grilles, you might want to be careful with that one since the grilles need to be removed to access the front tow hooks in case of an emergency. What puzzles me is why a quality aftermarket company like VMaxx doesn't come up with a solution that just snaps into place as easily as the OEM plastic grille pieces do. After all, if Chrysler can do it, there is certainly no good reason why a competent body parts supplier shouldn't be able to do it even better. With that attitude, though, I suppose we know why there are so few stunning aftermarket enhancements for the Crossfire. Keep up your good work anyway. Thanks.

Here's 3 pics of the lower grills I got from southhams in the UK. These are the ones secured by zip ties. I love the way they look.

just made the order from southhams yesterday... can't wait to get them... they look great from the pictures and have gotten positive opinion from people who purchased them.

as for the vmaxx lower grill inserts i don't really like the flat look... and someone mentioned a circle one... I have not seen this one so it might be something interesting... I think Vmaxx should really take some time into improving it's site and giving us better information about their products because many things like the circle grills are not even mentioned there...

Xfirecorea, thanks for the gallery referral, there's no better combo than black & chrome, you have a very nice looking Crossfire. My SRT6 is aero blue and that color is kind of eye catching, I've hardly driven the car at all, but everywhere I go people just stare as I go by. Just a couple weeks ago I drove in to the local mini mart to pick up some breakfast for the wife & I and when I came out there was a little old blue haired lady probably close to 70 just standing there staring at my car. I walked toward the drivers door and she said, " oh my that's such a pretty car, what is it"? It has been debadged with Dan Roots emblems and by this time she was looking at the front emblem looking confused so I told her it was a Crossfire, still looking confused I said it's made by Chrysler. I guess that satisfied her, she said oohh Chrysler that's good and proceeded on into the store. Just thought I'd share that, I thought it was so funny and it may have been one of those you would have had to been there moments too. I think I'll like the slotted lower bumper inserts, but I'm just a little concerned about putting too much chrome on that aero blue.

Great question...

In the ebay auction southhams ran before the one that I actually "won", I noticed that he edited his listing by mentioning that a bit of modification might be needed to allow the sensor to poke through. Subsequent listings have not had this edit.

But after mating the inserts to the actual grill and then putting them back on the car, I found that the sensor did not poke far enough out to need any modification. It's immediately behind the insert and functions perfectly.
