Default Spoiler light

I have a 2005 Roadster, yesterday whilst a passenger (It's my wife's really) I noticed the spoiler light flashing whilst we were driving.

The only time we could get the spoiler to go back down was after turning the engine off and re starting the engine, then we could manually lower the spoiler.

All seems fine now.

However, shortly before I noticed the light flashing, my wife had just sent the car sideways round a roundabout it was rather greasy. I don't know if this has any bearing on the matter.

Does anyone know what the spoiler light is for when it flashes???

Thanks,

Nev

Does the spoiler deploy when you hit the necessary speed (65 mph?).
If not, that may be why it's flashing.
There was another thread on here that stated a 'horn' went off when the spoiler didn't deploy.
(That may have been on a 2004 model, and as a cost reduction for 2005, they made the light flash instead).

I was reading in the owner's manual (I think) that if the stability and/or traction control are activated (i.e. wheel slippage) at certain speeds, the spoiler will deploy.

Not sure if that helps you out or not.

The spoiler works fine now, it was just after the slide that the light started to flash and the spoiler locked up.

Talking Re: Spoiler light

The spoiler will deploy as a safety precaution if the ESP system detects a large difference in the wheel speed between the front and rear wheels. This could occur as a result of the speed signal malfunction, or could occur if the vehicle is attempting to accelerate on a low friction surface causing the rear wheel to spin. The spoiler will remain deployed and the warning light in the spoiler switch will blink until the vehicle is restarted. IF the spoiler continues to deploy in this fashion below the normal deployment speed, see you authorized dealer.

Cheers Gw, thats what happened and all is well now.

Thanks for confirming what happened was normal, I must admit I was mighty impressed at the way she took it sideways round the roundabout.
