Angry My dealers don't know what they are doing!!

I went to all of my dealers within a 40 mile radius to get my key that I got off ebay programmed. The first one said that my key that I got off of ebay can not be programmed. They said that the only way to program a key is to get it straight from chrysler. The other 3 had no idea how to do it. Anyone have any ideas of what I can do?? Thanks for the help!!!

I'm assuming you need it cut and programmed? Chrysler are the only ones that cut them.

I don't need it cut I am using the key from my old fob. I am doing this cause my fob is falling apart from wear (using old key with new fob).

Do you know that you misspelled "coupe" above your photo ?. Do a search, I believe someone has brought this key fob reprogram up before.

Thanks for the grammar check. I have done many searches and done everything in those searches to get it to work and still it does not.

I don't know what to tell you. My dealer did it with no problems. Are you going to a 5 star dealership ? Also let the members here know wear you are, some one near you may be able to recommend a dealership in your area. GOOD LUCK.

Chrysler, for one, doesn't program the keys. Mercedes programs them. When I got my replacement key the address on the package had the address from a Mercedes in Texas.

I would get a contact from Mercedes dealer (forget Chrysler for now). Go to the dealer with the key and your vin number. They will more than likely have to send the key out but this will ensure that you are having it done correctly the first time.

I have also talked to the mb dealers service manager and he said that they are not authorized to do anything on my car so I'm in a bind with that to...

Local locksmith told me the used fob can't be reprogrammed. It's part of the vehicles security system and locked to it. He also said its $35 to mill a new key.

Yeah, from what I've heard from other forum members is, you can't use the ebay fobs. I was going to purchase one only for it's case housing. But if you download the manual it tells you how to program your new key fob. Give it a try see what happens.

This is from a different thread; It worked on my new key.

After taking the batteries out, you have to re synchronize the fob.

1) with new batteries in, press the unlock button twice quickly, pointing at the car.

2) within 30 seconds, put the key in the ignition and turn to the ON position.

This re synchronizes the key to the car after the fob has lost power.

This is addressed in the owners manual.

Well went to another dealer today that said they would be able to program my key and again they had no clue. So I got pissed off and I ended up successfully taking the insides of my old fob and putting them in my new one!!

Looks good. Just for giggles, you ought to pry up the chrysler logo on your old fob and see if there's a MB star underneath!

There is an MB logo underneath. Mine came off not too long ago. Funny.

Speaking of keys, they are expensive. I bought an '04 Crossfire three weeks ago that only came with a single fob. I thought I'd better order one to have a spare. The local dealer wanted almost $200! I worked out a deal with the Dodge dealership I got the car from to get another key. They agreed to sell it to me for half their cost, so it was like $75. They also did all the programming- which surprised me - since I thought I would have to take it into a Chrysler dealer to get that done.

Even at $75, it's still the most expensive key I have ever bought.
