SRT6 and Limited Engine Computers
What are the differences in our computers? Are they the same part running different software or completely different? I am considering buying a SRT6 engine but wanted some information about the computers so I can decide on a new engine or an aftermarket supercharger for my limited.

Also, The idea of putting in an srt-6 engine in was discussed before, and I remember reading all of the new parts you'd need, and it ended up being cheaper to trade in your XF and buy a srt-6.
Not asking about cost. I just have a chance to buy an SRT6 engine with the kompressor still on it for a very good price. The compressor is worth more than I can get the engine for. Just wanted to know the differences in computers and harnesses. I do not want an SRT6 so I will not trade my car for that. I can do most work myself and I enjoy that kind of work. I have even considered a small block ford but I really do not have the time for that much custom fabrication.

The EPROM / ECU / PCM hardware are the same... The wiring to the box is pretty much the same except for various sensor and control wire looms for the SC / SC Clutch / Intercooler, pump etc... The software versions are completely different 2.8 vs 2.8.1 and you will not find one dealer that will be able to install the software for you, because each is VIN specific... And I have yet to find a dealer that has the expertise or willing to break their contract with DC...
If you are installing the SRT6 engine in an auto NA Crossfire, you'll have a much easier time than if you are installing into a manual trans version. But, I must warn you !!! You will not find many software experts or ANY mfg assistance to help you get the engine running, or systems accessories operating properly... In other words, this is a crap shoot...
You will also need to purchase lots of little (expensive) items that are associated with the SRT6 engine...
If you are hell-bent on doing this, I would do a piggy back ECU to operate the engine and keep your ECU to run your systems / accessories... Best price you can expect to pay is about $5,000 from a Bosch Motorsports ECU tech shop in your area...
Good Luck... I'm doing exactly what you are considering, but it's much easier for me because my car is a gutted race car and I don't have any accessories / systems to worry about... So, I'm just installing a full Motec ECU / sensors / harness' to run the engine...

Thanks for the info. Everything comes down to I hate automatic tranny. I might just say screw it and shove a 331 stroker under the hood. I have not decided. I can do the 331 and its sounding easier every time I ask a new question. I have about a year to figure it out as I will be out of the country most of the next year. I work in Iraq, Kuwait, and Europe most of the time. I could just pull the Kompressor off of the engine and get Kleemanns add on module to control the SC stuff.

I feel your frustration... But, your best bet is save-up $15,000 and ship your car to Kleeman, Or save-up $22,000 and ship your car to Renntech... Otherwise you'll end-up with a roller that sits in your garage collecting dust...
Or, just get an SRT6 and bite the bullet with the AUTO TRANS !
I'm not really sure why everyone wants to get a limited and switch out the motor to get the supercharged / manual trans configuration. It seems to me that the much simpler method would be to buy a SRT-6 and switch the trans!
