Default k&n vs. cone

Has anyone dynoed both setups as in twin k&n filters vs. pulling out the stock filters and running two cone filters on the end of the intake. I currently have k&ns but I am starting to wonder if it is too restrictive.

I have not dyno'd the car but the seat of the pants tells me I am much better off with the dual 3" tubes with twin K&N's at the ends. I had both and when you floor it, there is no comparison.

I found a winning combo... if you don't mind the looks right side has a k&n on it and left side is cone filter. Still gets cold air but also is free flowing. I highly doubt that the n/a xfire will use that much filter.

Can you post pics of your setup in your gallery? I would be interested to see it.

I will shortly. Need to take the picture. I believe it looks good. I temporarily removed the original supercharger cover due to needing to have an alternate mount to hold it in place. I believe I am getting approx 1-2 more MPG's as well.

Steve,

Did you buy yours, or build it?

I saw some 'DIY' pieces at the local parts store that could probably work for making your own.

Looks good!

I built it for $120 without the filters. Even though the tubes are chromed plastic which some people frown upon as being low class, they do not heat up like metal and don't transfer that heat to the air in the tubes as much. It does a nice job and for the money, it is tough to beat. I bought the pieces at Autozone.
