Default Noise before the engine start ?

I don't know if this is normal: When I turn the key to ON position in the morning, without starting the engine, a noise would comes on in a few seconds. Sounds like a electric motor. (it is not the A/C fan as I turned the air off). After I start the engine, I can still barely hear the noise. I don't know if the noise keep going or turned off as I'm driving. Does anyone knows what noise is that? Thanks.

It's your fuel pump.

This noise would be your fuel pump priming it self.

I hear a sound that sounds like an electric motor too but it occasionally comes on for 3 to 5 seconds even when the car has been running. The sound comes from under the hood and it seems to be closer to the passenger side front of the car.

Does anyone know what this sound is coming from??

That's your secondary air injection pump (it's an emissions part). It only kicks in on cold starts to keep the emissions down.

Today before I started the car I turned the key to the "Run" position so I could here that electric motor sound. I then opened the hood to determine where the sound was coming from and determined that it is under that black box with all the fuses etc on the passenger side back near the firewall.
I removed the lid to that box and found there to be a small open tube about the size of a cigar and air was blowing up and out from that. I seemed to be coming from the electric motor that was running somewhere below.
Anyone have a clue if this is related to the secondary air injection pump mentioned above. I here this occasionally when the car is warm and has been driven for hours.

I might be wrong on this but I remember reading that there is a fan that cools the ECU box on the passenger side. Maybe that is what you were hearing.
