Default Ignition Key Without Remote FOB

Is it possible to buy a spare ignition key without the remote FOB for a 2005 Crossfire Roadster. I do not want to carry the remote in my key holder.

The local dealer says that a simple key is not available and that one must buy the key mounted in the remote FOB.

Mercedes sells individual keys for emergency use like opening a door. This will work but you have to have the fob near the ignition switch so the reciever can locate the the key fob. and that Keneth is the frequency!

I just noticed you are interested in the ignition key not just the door key so try this link.....http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r170...other-key.html

apparently there is a flat key available but you may have to go to a Mercedes dealer to get one and not all dealers are knowledgeable about this flat key so you may have to try different dealers.

Many thanks for the help. I found the posting at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r170...other-key.html
to be especially helpful in explaining the operation of the ignition key and the remote. If my Chrysler dealer does not know what a "Flat Key" is, I will see if the MB dealer can help me.

Thanks again.
