Default Engine swap

Been doing some thinking about the racing season and getting tired of having to drive the wheels of my car to stay in touch.

Noticed that XF's are now down to US$11-12K here in AU $45K with the dollar at 90 cents it makes it viable to bring one in and strip her completely to run. Now the thoughts

1. Stick one of my V8's www.enginefactory.com into her with a Tremec 5speed and 9"diff total cost landed around $20K strip out all the good bits and put them on ebay.

2. Buy a SRT engine or SRT and swap a manual into it.

I will be removing all the ABS TC YAW airbags and everything else that can be pulled.
Just wondering if this is viable or am I just have a seniors moment

Easy
In the US XF's are cheap let than 1/4 of the price here.

I can strip one out stick a V8 into it and have some fun or Try and match a manual box to a SRT.

Taking measurements the issue is weight and width.
First option is 500HP 383 Stroker still going to be fun. Puts it in a whole new game

I'm surprised no one has done this yet. Much like the Monster Miatas. I think it would be pretty fun to put together something like that. I say the most difficult part would be installing the solid rear axle.

I still think a great engine would be one of those World SRT-4 engines. Close to 300 at the crank and there is a huge aftermarket for turbos and other speed parts. One could easily build a 450-500 horse 4 banger with less weight up front.

Like you said in option 1..Strip a conventional xfire, sell the leftovers and drop a v8 in. For racing, the supercharged engine would be an added expense and headache with a limited level of horsepower. You can't beat displacement of a V8. The aluminum GM LSX engines are the way to go, light weight, ease of installation, strong aftermarket and factory support, high horsepower and reliable

Interesting stuff, but I thought you were a "mild mod" class racer? Wouldn't this take your car out of the class you're currently competing in? Or is that the point?

Yes thats the point might as well go for the fun stuff.
Would put me in the over 6 litre class but if I run the SRT it puts me in the 4-5 itre class anyways.

Good advertising for the enginefactory and saves the road cars for just that; considering there was a press article here naming the XF as a future collector car

Still puts me in the 5 litre class due to the multiplier for forced induction engines.
Thought about and have asked Andy's Autosport (USA) who advertise a Vortec for the XF but have not had a reply as of yet.

All I want to do is go faster , a Left hand drive car would be useful for our fastest tracks here Philip Island, Sandown and the scariest of all Bathurst
I will just bring the car in pull it apart and make the decision on how I can get the most out of her and remain in a suitable class.

Doing the calcs, it looks like 7 psi would give you the same power at 2500rpm that an NA car would have at 3500 rpm. 3500rpm acceleration becomes the acceleration you'd normally get at 4500rpm, and then at 5000rpm, you would be making 255whp.

Or, more appropriately, at WOT in sixth gear, you'll pull at 54.5mph the way your car would normally pull at 81.8mph. Actually, a tad bit faster because of the lower wind resistance at 54.5mph vs 81.8mph.
