N/A Phenolic Spacers

We are having those go into production next week and will be taking preorders. Basically what this is is a spacer that goes between the Intake manifold and cylinder head to reduce heat soak and lower IATs. Lower temp equals more HP.
This will be noticeable in the cars that have kept the OEM airbox as it will lower the boxes heat soak as well. Installation is a breeze and can be accomplished in your driveway with a ratchet and 10mm socket.
Retail price will be: $95.00/pair shipped (including gaskets)
Prepurchase price: $65.00/pair shipped (including gaskets)
We are limiting the prepurchase order to 30 orders.
Ok here is our preorder list:
1. Enjoinick (paid)
2. Trutaing (paid)
3. Xfire2005 (paid)
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.
I'll add more as we get there.
Being added to list requires payment, which of course is refundable if you should change your mind. PM me to be added to list and for payment instructions or just paypal $65.00 to info@tvtdesign.com and include "phenolic spacers" in the note.
Attached is the engineer's drawing so you can get an idea of what it is.

Cool idea. Do we have any hard numbers on this? I know the supercharged guys benefit greatly from this mod, but I figured their IATs are much higher due to passing through the supercharger first!

I'm totally down to purchase these! Thanks for all the aftermarket you have provide us..
Add me first to the list! lol
its $65 people cant beat that for a performance mod espically for our cars!

HP gains would fluctuate too much based on ambient and underhood temps. The easiest test to prove the effectiveness of this product is a simple temp reading of the top of the intake manifold (and if possible the chairge air) before and after the install with the car in motion and the motor at operating temp. Use the temp delta to speculate your own HP gains.
Personally I view this as an additional mod. CAI + EGR and air pump blockoffs + phenolic spacers = the coolest charge air temp you can expect in a Crossfire.

Sustainable HP/$ is in the area of 1:20 to 1:30. I mean 1 HP per 20 or 30 dollars. I use the word "sustainable" because Nitrous abides by it's own laws as a "chemical supercharger" with it's limited use; ie as long as the bottle is filled.
With that being true, should I only expect to see 1 to 2 HP?

Basically this is exactly what we are going for. We wil be doing IR testing on the manifold before and after. This is not a SOTP or huge dyno mod. It basically is one step in achieving the most out of your car. If you can maintain cool and consistent IATs then you will have more predictable performance and better response.
For daily driven cars this will result in similar power both with the engine cool and hot not a large drop due to heat soak. For competitive folk it will result in better dialed in time and one less variable to worry about.
A mod like this will show more benfit the longer and harder the engine is pushed.

These are in production now, figure 4-6 weeks. Hopefully sooner, but that's what the CNC shop quoted me. They are 3.3mm thick, any thicker and you run into clearance issues with the AIR pump.
I'm surprised there wasn't more of an interest in purchasing these preproduction.

There was a much larger response to these for the supercharged motor back when LET released them for roughly the same price because ( imo ) there had already been lots of info showing how the spacers help keep temps down and power up. On the other hand, this thread seems to lack some information about how this could really be helpful and no one really has the data / info to show that they would be beneficial at all... The "keeping IATs as cool as possible" line basically sold it for me, but alotta peeps are looking for numbers.
Either that or everyone is out enjoying the summer and just driving their cars around and not forum whoring enough.

I think some of the problems with lack of interest in this product are:
I'll probably do this in conjunction with the larger injectors - same area of the car and while the fuel rail is out... etc. etc. but saving $20 on something which may sit around for 6 months is not really worth it at the moment
- Everyone wants dyno figures, rightly or wrongly, they may not be aware that you can easily manipulate dyno numbers.
- 99% of Crossfires are not going to see/feel any difference with this product as very few owners are either at or getting close to the full potential of this car (see TVT's third post, #10)

I've never seen any car show a Dyno gain with Phenolic spacers, be it for N/A or FI engines.
And it is very hard to feel anything short of a 15 RWHP gain, so I promise you this is not going to do it for you.
It's basically a time proven mod that has worked for every engine in existance starting with spacers for carbs and way before that.
This is not going to appeal to the DD type of user which 90% of owners are. It's to keep temps constant and low. Thus more repeatable performance.
