Custom Hood - Or Not
Seems like most forum members perfer the Jag. XKR style hood over the AMX style. Being we couldn't get 10 confirmed orders for the AMX style,we most likely will have to really beg to convience AAR Fiberglass to make a production run of anything for us. Are we ready to commit to paid orders for a fiberglass XKR style hood with a ((( center ))) spine. The fresh air vents must also be functional. We must buy the Turkey, then Christmas. Are we ready to make our paid list now,or wait until March for our early tax filing return check? I'm ready now! ,but production doesn't happen until 10 or more come together in agreement. Thanks... Don #### And Another Thang!!!#### I still would like to have fiberglass fender flares. Our Soooo boring flat fenderwells have a perfect flat mounting area for 3M double sided tape-on flares. They hang onto 4X4 trucks with mud pounding against them quite well. If you think it would look ricer,"Get Over It"

Something like this on my Avalanche? Held on with screws to the inside of the fender & 3M
around the outside? Bushwacker makes these WWW.bushwacker.com, maybe they can
make some for our cars??

That's what I'm waiting for as well. Once I come across one I will make the XKR hood a reality with functional vents(the main reason I chose that hood to begin with)...............and I can easily graft the center spine onto that as well. I just don't want to have my car down for that long or spend the $700 for a new hood to play with.

I would be interested in the XKR style hood. If you moved the photos of it over to this thread, I bet more people would bite. I just now looked through the other thread you had today because I was not interested in the AMX style. The Jag hood would be awesome and could very easily be converted to be functional. The option of the insert that said supercharged would catch alot of SRT6 guys attention~
i posted on a hood awhile back. did some quick PS work for the guys on it. showed the SL vents, Jag vents, and Aston vents. i will look for the pics again to post. if i cant find it took about 5-10 mins to throw them together....
I like the general styling of Moparrbust project hood. Hot looking with the supercharged vents. With a center spline I would give AAR Fiberglass my credit card order. Early tax filing return! Hope we can get 9 others thinking.

Uncle O...Nice photo shop. Thanks! I like the Jag XKR vents the best. (((As for the N/A Crossfire owners)))> Whoever paints your hood could easly fill in the recessed supercharged lettering on the intake vents,If you so desire. I know BONDO is a bad word,But when kept this thin,It'll be alright. Depressing seeing Sebrings and Vans with our hoods. Now I don't even care where we keep the recessed hood grooves or not. But the center spine is a must have. AAR Fiberglass was going to charge $50.00 to box up the hood and $200.00 for shipping. We were going to pay $650.00 for the AMX hood deal that fell thru for lack of 10 comments. Think we could have all our design wants agreed on by March? We need at least 10 confirmed orders for our second attempt to get AAR Fiberglass to consider our group again. More than 10 orderds will bring down the cost. I'm going to save the $250.00 shipping cost and drive to Florida. March orders-What do you all think? Don
If I'm gonna spend that kind of money for a new hood, I want something thats going to be noticed. The Jag look good, but too subtle. I really like the AMX hood, but it will have to be after taxes.
Since so many people have different ideas as to what kind of custom hood they would like to have, and no aftermarket company offers a "cheap" steel replacement hood for the Crossfire. I was wondering if there isn't enough "Backyard" automotive designers out there that would be able to come up with something unique out of fiberglass, if a "blank" fiberglass Crossfire hood was offered.
Fiberglass is so much easier to work with (than steel) and if we could get enough forum members to order a "Stock" fiberglass reproduction of the Crossfires hood, from AAR, it would be an excellent "canvas" from which any number of personal designs could be created.
All it would take is a "SERIOUS" group of around a dozen members (with approximately $900.00 each for shipping and handling included) to submit their orders to AAR Fiberglass in Fla.
Probably the only real decission that would need to be made is, to build the reproduction hood with or without the factories hood strakes.
Does this sound like something anybody would be interested in pursuing? I already have another hood design in the back of my mind, so I'd be willing to put up my share of the cash to get it off the ground.
Anybody else?

So, who's going to make the fiber hoods????

I am assuming the Company that originally offered to build my AMX hood (AAR) would be receptive to building a simple reproduction of our "stock" hood if they got enough orders for it.
This would give lots of people the opportunity to start with a "clean sheet of paper" so to speak, to come up with exactly the right individual hood design for themselves, since fiberglass is so much easier to work with than steel. (Just ask any Soap Box Derby racer/builder, or their Dads

I'm game but if we do anything up with ARR again we must have a sure thing!!!! Allen at ARR may not be so receptive this time. I will only get involved if we have money in hand to make the comentment. I wasted a lot of time and effort and that wont happen again.
