Default Starting Issue

I have an 04 x fire and when I try and start it, it will make this very quick 1 time click sound. It sounds like it is coming from the starter, but the car will not turn over. I had my brother turn the key and I watched and out of 20 attempts the serpentine belt only turned one time! So my question is why would my car be doing this would it be a bad starter?

If the battery is charged, it could just be a bad connection at the battery or on the starter. My F150 did that twice and both times it was just the wire that went from the positive terminal to the starter. It made one loud click at the starter and thats it, everytime I tried it would only click once. Make sure connections are tight and corrosion free. I hope its that minor for you. I know replacing a starter would not be not on my wish list.

I will check the connections when I get home, I just replaced the battery and I know those connections are good, but it never hurts to double check!

Thanks~!!!

Ok so I finally got to it and here's what it is doing. When I put the key in the ignition I have to turn it really fast in order to get any sort of starting sound from the engine bay.
Well the starter will turn the engine, but only a little bit. I was watching as my friend turned the key and the belts turn about 2 inches each time and that is it! I checked all of my connections and they are all good!
I am wondering if a fluid is low like the tranny fluid is there a sensor that will not allow you to start the car?
