Default Engine drops 1,000 RPM's when shifting???

I have an 05' XFire Roadster with Auto-Stick and when I am driving under half way normal conditions (I have a bit of a lead foot) the engine will drop 1,000 RPM when shifting to a higher gear (2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th). I test drove a couple of other cars before buying this one and I do not recall this happening. The others seemed to shift much more seamlessly without this kind of lag.

If I put my foot in it and accelerate quickly it seems to shift alright, but I was not sure if there was a tweak that I needed to do for normal driving conditions.

Also, is the car supposed to roll forward when you put it in park and then take your foot off of the brake? Is my transmission loose or worn in some way? I do not recall this happening in the others that I test drove either.

Smooches!

Do a search for "throttle reset" and you'll know what to do.

Good call Tulsa,

XFireCrazy,

The rpm drop is normal with shift to higher gear.

When you put car in park, they can roll a slight amount.

Welcome to the forum!

Great people, with lots of info

Here is throttle reset procedure
1. Get in your car

2. Turn the key to the on (not start) position, the position just before the starter
turns over.

3. Press the gas pedal to the floor with the key in the "on" position.

4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back
to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas
pedal.

5. Wait 2 mins. for a full alignment.

6. Drive the car as you always do.

It is not hard to do this, just follow the instructions -

Key on, pedal down, 5 sec, key off pedal up, wait 2 minutes.

Keep the key in for the entire thing.

Should I engage the little push button under the pedal or stop just before this with the gas pedal? Or does it matter?

Thanks.

Put the pedal to the metal!

The button will tell the transmission to select the lowest gear it can safely use.

If you have an SRT, the effect is OMG!

Do the throttle reset before you drive next, it will make the response better, and it will then
remember your driving style

I always put the car in park then put on the emergency brake then release the foot brake.

Don't let the pundits tease you.

"Only a Limited" has a 219 HP engine with 229 foot pounds of torque. That will get you 0 to 60 in less than 6 seconds and the quarter in 16. Not dragstrip crazy speeds but fairly respectable.

CAI an ECU tune and you can add another 10 to 20 HP easy. Power to weight ratio is great in these cars.

That OMG in an SRT is still and omg in a limited. Better than any ricer or a stock Mustang GT. Far more rare and better handling as well.

And gorgeous!

Ha ...
I tell my wife this in all our cars when parking on an incline.
Only difference is I set the parking brake first then let off the foot brake and lastly put the car in park.

Either way it's saves the torque on the tranny.
