Folding mirrors?
The snow is flying and the temp. is dropping. The roads are being sanded & chemicals are part of that deal. Time to put the Xfire into hibernation.
To make a little more room in the garage I would like to fold the mirrors. The manual says that the mirrors fold both fore and aft but this is not happening with moderate pressure applied. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

I've wondered the same things about the mirrors.
Bummer about the weather. Was 80 degrees and sunny today in Baltimore, low humidity, and the activity in the Inner Harbour was like a summer evening.
Won't have many more weekends like this, but hopefully we're a good month or two away from the snow. Have a road trip planned for the Xfire tomorrow.
Some guys are posting on the Crossfire Talk board with continuing problems with the transmission. One guy is having the problem with his second box...

Thanks, your simple solution did the trick. By getting behind the mirrors and giving a good firm back and upward push, the operation worked without feeling as though there would be a broken mirror. Worthwhile space saving on either side as a result.
8 degrees F. with about 4 inches of snow overnight.

That is why I live in Florida, moved from Ohio.
84 and sunny, a little windy on the golf course today!!!!! :P
Didn't you read the manual? You can chain those tires. (personally, I would LOVE to see that)
Seriously, those of you who already have ice, how does it handle? I was pleasently surprised with the rain and wind handling.
For the most part mine will be tucked away in the guard house (so there is room in the garage) this winter, but there are times went it must go out, regardless of the weather. Should I make reservations at the body shop in advance?

Yes, I have read the manual but new 18 in. rear wheels and tires as well as chains doesn't trip my trigger.
I briefly drove the car on ice. Had a slow leak in left rear tire that turned out to be a bead leak, so I was forced into getting this looked after before parking her for the winter. The dealer did a first class job in doing the fix - the second time around anyhow. That is why the brief run on crappy roads. The car performed fine but even in the "W" transmission setting it was hard to keep the wheel spin down. Also saw the ESP indicator light on more than once, but that part is fun. Brakes, heater, heated seat etc. are all great.
The main reason I don't winter drive my toys is the fact that the city uses a lot of corrosive chemicals mixed with sand on the roads and this plays havoc with the finish. Also, our temps can drop as low as -40 C or F. and this is when parts really start to break. Our 01 Jeep GCwill have to take the abuse this year as we normally winter in Lake Havasu City, AZ.
Hope anyone who winter drives their Xfire will let the forum know how they make out.
