Default Brake Pad Disintegration!!! Another reason to change to Rotex Golds

I was installing the rotex golds last night as I put on my new wheels and when I pulled the stock pad on the drivers side the piston side of the pad just fell apart. See pics below.... Another benefit of putting on the Rotex Golds...

I am just glad this did not slip out while braking as I may have been into another car!!

Looks fine just sitting but voila it was not even holding together...

I have never seen the pads rust apart from the plate before. Probably because you generally wear out the pads before they have been on long enough to do that. Guess I better to a check on the SSB pads just for good measure.

Yeah and these were still about 55% remaining life! My car has only 20k and it is not an outside car.

A little disturbing to say the least...

It's funny that you posted this - I just did my pads (with Rotex Gold) and rotors a week ago mainly due to the dust and incessant squealing. When I took off the front passenger side caliper, the outboard pad stayed on the rotor just like you described:

Disturbing is the perfect word - if this would have separated during heavy braking, I probably would be needing a lot of brake and suspension parts...maybe even front end parts altered by the car in front of me.

The good thing about this is that I don't have to listen to the brakes squealing constantly any more! And I was able to show my wife that I wasn't crazy for changing out brake pads that "didn't need to be changed"! (She thinks I'm obsessed or something - go figure )

Well I just put 150 on my ride today with the new RG's and not a problem. I am glad that I changes my stockers because the dust was unbearable not to mention them falling apart!

Thanks for sharing cuz I thought I was the only one. Others may need to do the RG change and may find the same problem! Surprised no one has had a failure yet!

BTW I found the best RG prices on: Rotex Gold Brake Pads: ImportPerformance.com

Only 56 beans! Not bad for $90 pads.
