Default Replacing Stock Gear Shift ****...

Has anyone replaced the "slippery" stock gear shift **** with a leather after market one yet? If so, how is it holding up and what was involved in swapping it out? Any certain make or model?

Thanks for any inputs.

bump

I'm curious about this too. I'd like to put a MOMO shift **** in my Crossfire. I tried unscrewing the stock one (not too roughly) but it did not want to seem to move. Is there an easy way to swap it out?

To remove shift **** (1) Pull up shifter boot (2) Turn the retainer nut clockwise and down (3) Pull off **** ... I would make sure the new **** fits xfires or Benz. shifters

Thanks crossfiretech. I'll see if I can find a new **** and let you know. I haven't had much luck with aftermarket *****, but then it's been 30 years since I swapped one out.

Every one is changing out their automatic shift ****, has any one changed out their manual shift ****? I am also interested in a Momo shift **** but unsure if they fit. I notice every one just gets Mercedes, is that the only maker that will fit? Also, has any one posted pics of their new MANUAL sift ****?

I swapped with MOMO a few months ago. Very easy process. Puschase one that says "Universal" it will come with all the adapter spacers you will need... Had to do a little custom work for the MOMO boot though... should be a photo in my album

careful -- most MOMOs specifically list that their ***** shouldnt be used on cars with 'lift-type reverse lockouts'. how are the MOMOs holding up?

I replaced the set screws with a bit longer than the ones included in the kit and don't have a problem...
