Not much. Custom pistons out of places like JE or Wiseco cost an additional $250-$350 as an engineering fee.

Everyone pays the engineering fee. Unless you're an engine market with 10's of thousands of potential customers, forget going cheap.

$250 is nothing compared to the total of $1300 or so it would actually take to make the pistons.

What would really suck is if you didn't pay the extra money and your piston diameters would have to be undersized to accommodate the extra thermal expansion of the forged aluminum. No iron piston coating + cold start slap means a heckuva lot of skirt wear. See how long that piston lasts.

My car has a little rub on the right front at full lock, but I am running 235 40 and lowered quite a bit. not a big deal to me. if you want to know where the rub is, just take of the wheel and look for the shiny spots.

Might want to check alignment angles. Sounds like the front toe is off (cross-toe) if one is rubbing and one is not

its obvious where its rubbing. right front wheel sits half an inch back in relation to the left front.
im really really low (i tuck front and rear, almost to the lip of the wheel) and i run 215 30 in the front and 245 35 in the rear
there shouldnt be that much room as far as an alignment goes, but we'll see

I'm starting to think all of this effort and money into my crossfire just isnt worth it.
don't get me wrong i like the car, its just working on anything on these cars is a total pain in the ***

esp. when my 240 is only 2,000 dollars away from having a fully built 600hp sr20.

Look, I can't speak for anyone here but me....but I like the little car...hell, I could have sunk $37k in a full blown muscle car...and I would have a full blown muscle car just like a 100 others at the local track or car show...I didn't want to play with the same old same old anymore...and like the challenges of making this little dude run...anyone can build something fast if they have enough money...the fact these are hard to deal with is what the challenge is, and for what it is, it becomes pretty darn quick...each to their own...but, if this car isn't for you, then I would sell it and move on...it takes someone who is in love this car to make it work...a real car nut for it...

this is true, its just hard to make any real power out of these cars due to the utter lack of aftermarket support.

I think for 3.2 liters...it makes plenty of power...and while those 1000HP twin turbo'd beasts are spinnin', I'm gone waiting at the end of the track...just in what you like....my old '03 ZO6, can't catch me...my neighbor's new Camaro SS, isn't even in the ball park....need I go on...lol...it's unique and quick enough for what it is....and there isn't a whole lot more of aftermarket anything that is going to make it any faster...although everyone keeps trying...it is what it is...and I don't think for the money it's that bad...

Well, you know Mike...it's like the little guy, against the big guys...you really don't have anything to lose, but when you win...they have a hard time believing it....and think...what the hell is that thing....it's just a lot more fun than when I was playing with the camaro's...everyone was the same so to speak...this is just different...

For any of you future V8 guys, there is a guy on MBworld selling a set of AMG5.5L cams and retainers. He was a customer of mine and planned on doing heads/cams in his S500, but bought a porsche instead. The parts are in near mint condition.

Check it out in the FS section if interested.

Don't suppose you happen to have intake/exhaust duration and lift @.050" do you? I've tried searching but come up with varying specs.

Search the E55 forum on that site. One of the guys tested all the v8 cmas and posted specs.

I would like see TVT design come out with an R-171 SLK body kit for the Crossfire so you can do this Chrysler : Crossfire: eBay Motors (item 360258252975 end time May-10-10 18:29:29 PDT) without choppy fabrication.
