Is there one best way to adjust the headlights for optimum light or should I just use trial and error?

I swapped out my bulbs and I think the beam pattern is a little off. However my conversion (wannabe HID and xenon white indicators) looks great - I'll have to post some pics.

 

Did you ever figure out the adjustments? The vertical is easy, long black screw with a white cap, sticking out of the assembly and easily hand adjustable. But try as I might (even looking over and over at the instructions in the manual), I can't find the blasted horizontal adjustment. My driver side headlight just "feels" like it's pointing too far towards center for my driving, I'd like to bump it out just a bit but can't figure out how.
