Gas flap door

Filled the tank, closed the flap and heard a cracking noise. The closure lock had broken apart. Hope to get it fixed this week.

did you close it hard? I just want to make sure i dont make the same mistake

.... or was it just a freak accident?

It will lock if you lock the doors with the fuel door open. Meaning when you try to close the fuel door, it will hit the lock pin. Forcing it will crack it.

Someone at the office did that a few months ago.

The car was not locked. The flap was not forced. The ball like piece at the top cracked off. The entire unit was replaced. A major job including removing the tail light. All is well!
