Here are the procedures outlined in the Crossfire Shop Manual.

http://www.dfwsbr.com/crossfire/tech/cf_oil.pdf

No real special tools required. No special pump. Just use the drain plug like any other car. Filter is on top.

Just read the 2nd link posted. They suggest that more oil will be removed by using a topsider. However, this could be due to the fact most people doing there own oil changes are on jack stands. Since the drain plug is on the passenger side and not at the back of the motor, you can do one of two things:

1. Jack up vehicle from drivers side

or

2. Jackup up vehicle from center, don't use jack stands, lower vehicle during drain process to level out the oil pan.

I'll be doing my oil change this weekend in my garage. I'll let you guys know how it goes. I will be doing it the way the manual says to do it.

I performed my first oil change using the Topsider. Very slick... didn't spill a drop. (I posted elsewhere).

Doesn't the topsider have a capacity of 2 gallons? The xfire needs 8.5 quarts, which is 0.5 quart more than 2 gallons. What did you do? (about the extra .5 quart of dirty oil?)

Hmm... good question. The Topsider is 2 gallons. I was definitely sucking air from the end of the hose so perhaps I was already down a half-quart before I started. ?? I did it several months ago but don't remember doing anything special. An option would be to suck out a couple quarts and pour this into a milk jug and then complete the drain... but that would reduce the slick factor.

If your going to do the suck out method buy a suction unit with graduations. They sell them for a hundred bucks or less. That way you will know if your getting it all out.
