Making more HP!!!
I am trying to increase the HP of my Xfire without messing with the engine too much. So far I have put on a custom exhaust system and K and N filters. The exhaust system really added a nice sound and some noticable power. I plan on including the Upsolute upgrade within the next week or so (I will have to mail my ECU). I was wondering if anyone knew about the Renntech carbon fiber intake for the SLK 320. It seems rather expensive, but it looks like it adds a little power. Also what kind of stock intake does the Xfire have? Is it cold-air?
Thanks

Why are you sending your ECU anywhere for an Upsolute chip? "Performance chips" makes you do that and they charge you $250 - $300 more. Go to the Upsolute site and find an Upsolute rep in your area. Even if you have to drive somewhere to get it done it can be done in less than an hour.
If Ican be of any help let me know.

If you did the "Powerchip" performance chip you would have to send it to them too. The only thing that they look for after the mod is to make sure no warning lights (ie., Check Engine light) are on. As long as there are none on then you are good to go.
I don't think you would have any problem. Mine and David Burns' went off without a single problem.
The Crossfire's engine has what appears to be a dual cold air straw going into a small volume airbox on either side of the engine. Increase the airbox size, increase throttle response. I wouldn't move the straws, though. Move them too low and they suck in hot asphalt air, too high and the aerodynamics of the car will prevent large volumes of air from being sucked in. Carbon Fiber may give you some weight decrease, but it wouldn't block any heat from the engine bay. I'd suggest a larger airbox with the same straws, or a long powder-coated aluminum ram tucked underneath the headlights outside of the engine bay in front of the wheel well.
