Default Getting the H&R cup kit... a little nervous...

I've decided I'm going to order the H&R cup kit for the Crossfire. It's a package of shocks and springs to lower the Crossfire and make it handle better. It is made for the SLK but should fit the Crossfire. The thing is that it drops the Crossfire 1.9" in the front and 1.7" in the back. That seems REAL low to me, but I think it would look awesome. That's so low I think the front wheels might even be tucked. I'll have to adjust the camber as well. I was thinking of going the Koni/Eibach route like Andrew, but I have heard a lot of good things about H&R. Also, does anyone know of any good shops in NJ that will install these? I have everything I need to do it myself, and my brother knows how to do it, but I want someone to be accountable if something gets screwed up.

Here is a pic of a C230 with the kit:

Well that wouldnt work for me... I do have to drive on Michigan roads and we have WAY to many potholes to have your car that low... but I'm sure you will enjoy it mighty!!! Let us know how it goes!

That's what I'm worried about. I go to school in north jersey, and some of the potholes there are ridiculous. I guess I'll just have to be more careful.

Jesus Andrew!! I never noticed how low your car was before!? That is quite insane... You must not have potholes were you are from because that car isnt going to last 3 miles of Michigan roads ... how do you like the performance difference between the new suspension and the stock?

Default suspension.

the car was dropped about 2 inches front and rear. i just can't stand the gap in the wheel well area at stock height...animals could live in there.

the car rides at almost near factory comfort and handles "much" better than stock without a harsh ride...the koni shocks can be adjusted to ride very harsh/stiff but i have them turned up just slightly. the biggest difference is how much heavier the steering is...i love it. more feel of the road. no light feeling anymore. a friend of mine in just installed eibach springs only (no shocks) to keep the cost down...same look but without the crisp rebound of the koni shocks.

cheers!

As long as 2 inches is ok, then I'm happy. The thing I like about the H&R setup is that the shocks and springs are designed for each other, and H&R springs are normally about 25-40% stiffer than Eibach springs. Sure the ride will be a bit harsh, but the performance increase will be pretty significant.
