Default Alarm Issue - Opinion

Hi all,

Like many others before me I've had alarm issues with my crossfire.
After reading almost all the threads on here, I've changed key fob, car batteries and sirens.

Even after replacing all the components I haven't had much luck resolving the issue and my alarm was still going off randomly everyday at work at least once or twice a day. (I have resisted taking it to the dealership for a variety of reasons)

I've noticed something though....during the summer months it went off almost everyday without fail! Now the weather is cooler, I have not had one false alarm!!! WTH???

Situation details:
- The car is parked is an open air car park exposed to all the elements during the day.
- The car has never had a false alarm whilst it has been parked in my garage.

My question-
Should the weather effect the alarm function???

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
Michael

Search will help you on this one, mine seemed to only go off when its damp out or the humidity is really high to fix mine i re-soldered the alarm module or what ever the h311 it is located in the trunk under the foam and this seemed to work! As for right now tho just pull the fuse to keep it from going off the only down side is you will lose interior dome lights and your key wont lock the passenger door you have to manually lock it and the hatch doesn't lock but no one other than an xf owner knows where the handle is for it anyway,,,

Thanks for the reply, yeh I was doing the fuse trick throughout the summer. I will give the resoldering option a try and see if that works.

central locking pump/security system module in the trunk under the styrofoam. This module can mess with alarm, siren, lights, locks. The placement of this module is bad. Water can leak into the trunk from multiple places and get to the connectors of this module.

Some Mercedes have the same problem.

I wonder if any one has moved this module before? If the location of it is bad why not move it?

It can be moved. Just need to find another place, extend the wiring and air hoses.
Or fix any possible leaks; the gas filler gasket and rear spoiler were the spots on my XF. What the Mercedes dealer does to fix the problem is turn the unit upside down and put it in a bag. There is is a kit for that, but probably won't work on the XF, because in the Mercedes its mounted vertically whereas the XF its horizontal.

In theory nothing you do to seal anything will work because of the vents in the hatch moisture can still get in. I like the idea of the bag tho! I will be posting my fix if and when it gives out again...

Just pull the plug on the siren and be done with it. Everything else still works.

Pulled the wire on mine last spring. The alarm quit going off and has never been a problem since. when I say everything still works, even the little red light on the dash that tells people the alarm is on still blinks. It's not but who could tell?
