Default Illuminated door sills installation

Someone posted some install instructions on here but I can't find them. I'm trying to install mine now, but I need to double check which cables connect to which as the instructions I have are confusing.

Please can someone post a link to the discussion where this is?

Thanks.

The problem is basically this. The instructions that came with them show BR/GY and BR/YL go together. So I assume that is Brown and Yellow.

Then is says RD and RD/DG go together. Assume Red goes with Red ??DG?? There are two reds in my car, one with a blue stripe and one with a yellow stripe. Which one do I connect the red from the door sills to?

Thanks.

stand by...let me go look...

BR/GY is brown with grey stripe.
BR/YL is brown with yellow stripe.
I connected the BR/GY wire from the sills to the BR/YL in the harness.

RD is red
RD/DG would be red with dark green (or grey?) stripe.
I connected the RD from the sills to the only RD wire in my harness in that area.

Note: I did NOT strip insulation off the wires in my car's harness. I used 3M crimp splices (the blue 2:1 type) that let you piggyback a new wire to an existing wire without stripping/soldering/taping.

I hope you get it figured... they're really cool!

Thanks. I've also got those piggyback connectors. I've put all the interior back together now and put the sills in place, I just need to connect up those two wires. But, I re-connected the batters and the BAS/ESP light is on and won't go out. Which is odd seeing as I've not even messed with any wires yet.

Any ideas?

Also, I didn't find my airbag on/off switch. Is this hidden away somewhere? Can someone take a pic and post it so I know where to find it? Or maybe the UK cars don't have this.

Thanks.

Dunno about the BAS/ESP light... :?: :?: :?:

As for the airbag disable, mine is built into the removable panel on the p-side (which would be d-side for you). As shown on picture 4 of the MOPAR instruction sheet that came with the sills.

Maybe it's on the other (left) side in UK??? Does you car have the "airbag disabled" light in the lower center console panel between the cigar lighter and the cell-phone holder?

Don't panic! I've sussed out the BAS/ESP. Found it in the manual saying the light may be on after disconnecting the battery. Just go full left lock, then full right lock on the steering wheel and the light is back off again as it should be.

Re. airbag, no, UK cars do not have that button in the center console. I've checked both P and D sides and it isn't there. Looks like a US thing.

Could be. Do you even have a passenger airbag in the UK car??? I imagine we have the disable here because some fools think putting a rear-facing child car seat in the front seat of a car (and have sued car makers because of their own stupidity) is a good idea. Morons.

OK, all wired up. Just waiting for it to get dark now and I'll take a pic and post it. Thanks for your help David.

Yes, we do have a passenger airbag, but no de-activate button for it.

Oh, another question...on the UK car, is the wiring you hook into on the driver's side?

Yup, wiring is on the drivers side in the UK.

The Red went to a Red with dark grey (RD/DG) which actually looked more like a Red with blue stripe. I was getting confused as to what DG was supposed to be.

I've been having a problem with mine today. Maybe I wired them up wrongly but I'm sure it all worked ok before. Today they don't seem to want to come on properly. I think the guy who sorted out my mobile phone car kit may have done something to the wiring. I need to go check it later but it is raining at the moment.

also, the ash tray, is there supposed to be a light in there? I seem to have a light behind the dash in that area that looks like it shouldn't be there. Maybe the ashtray light has come loose or something?

Yes, the bulb in the ash tray should light up with the rest of the interior lights.

Does your overhead light and the light in the boot come on when you open a door?
