Default water and IAT temps.

what i have done to get the temps down, is very simple,, Rob at Needswings was a great help in getting this done ,and you too can have your own system, Rob told me he would make this system but only on a build on order only , two heat exchangers ,one behind each fog light (fog light removed of course) here is the video of my car after hours of hard running, the temp as you can see is 71* don't forget this was with my sl55 with no inlet tubes on it just engine bay air,,, you can see boost ,,rpm,,speed, water temp IAT and spark adv. jim

Jim, this is pretty fantastic.

One thought for you or Rob, is there a potential to place the two heat exchangers almopst parallel to the ground right behind the fog lights to keep the fog lights in place, but still get the necessary air across the heat exchangers. Seeing as right below the fog lights is just mostly an open area (with the exception of the ic pump on passenger side).

Also, any clue as to cost? Even if it is on abuild to order basis.

Sounds like a good idea. Are the heat exhangers part of the engine coolant system, or just for the IC system? I know you have the coolant system seperated.

Also to let the heat out of that fog light area, did you leave the access doors off?

James

I was going to connect one to the coolent system and the other to the IAT system,, but i tried both to the IAT system ,, this worked the best for me. i had also installed a fan on the radiator from a hemi truck. the small door in the rear of the fog lite did not exhaust all the air that the heatexchanger could flow so i opened it up,,, guess what ,,it also cools my brakes what Rob is doing is making the HE with Fan and mounting brackets ,,you could mount it where you want and to the radiator or the IAT water system, you could try the flat idea it may be all you need. here are some pic of mine mounted both to the IAT system. don't know about the price ,,Rob told me he will let me know in a week or so what mine cost.

Hey Jim. I wanted to keep my fog lights if possible so I'm installing the stock H/E in front of the supercooler. It won't work as well as your solution but I hope it's enough for now. The Hemi fan is almost a certainty for me seeing how it works wonders on your super car. I'm glad you and Rob are sharing this solution.

Awesome Jim. After talking with you on the phone, I was wondering what the gauges actually looked like. That is an awesome piece of technology! See you soon and I'll try to stay with you in the 1/8th mile at least!

stock pump,,,Rob got the HE and the aluminum housing and the fans were already mounted ,, all i did was buy 3/4 and 5/8 heater hose, remove the plastic box behind the fog light and, plum them in and wire to a relay to my key on, reinstall the plastic, done. i was thinking of some mesh or something both front and rear to keep the rocks away, bu so far not needed,, also went through a lot of water a few weeks back everything still works. jim
