Default * Note to anyone installing a mobile phone car kit *

DO NOT USE THE CAR SPEAKERS FOR THE OUTPUT.

USE THE STANDARD ADDITIONAL POD SPEAKER THAT COMES WITH THE CAR KIT. (Nokia one)

Since picking my car up I've had problems with the phone kit. The main problem is that I was experiencing feedback via the mic to the speakers. This morning the installation company spent 3 hours trying different set-ups and control boxes etc before giving up. The problem is the cars amp. It is near impossible to lower the volume enough for it to stop the feedback. But, when you do manage to lower it, we put an additional resister in the wiring, we then had a buzzing sound caused by the resister.

The amp picks up the slightest signal and boosts it. Even with the phone volume on the lowest setting it was a problem. We eventually gave up and used the included extra speaker just for the phone kit and had it mute the stereo when the phone is in use.

Just thought I would let you know as I spent hours trying different configs before the installer (who is very experienced and has been doing this for years) finally gave up. Don't waste your time on it!

Also, the pod speaker can easily be mounted on the passenger side using existing screws under the dash so you don't have to drill any holes or anything to mount it.

XXFIRE, cool another Treo 600 user!!! Let me know how that car kit goes. Quite a few people have having problems with it on TreoCentral.com. Seems Palm still has some work to do on the software.

I've pretty much given up on a kit and use a FM transmittler when needed.

Default Mobile Phone Kit

Hi Saldous

Did your installer try anything like this?

http://www.vtc.at/content.php?lang=e...hbox&theme=vtc

They have one that connects directly into an amplifier, or the ISO standard connectors.

Seams like they have a great system and even have some Leather Console supports designed for the XF.

I'll phone them and order one. Ill let you know how i get on.

Nokia has a new car kit coming out soon with a low audio output.
I also had a problem with my car kit before I switched it to the kit speaker.

The new Nokia kit doesn't work either. My fitter had 3 of the units for testing. It is a new "black box" to replace the original one. He tried it but it caused another problem. Phone audio came out of front right speaker, but radio still played out of front left speaker! He tried all 3 units and all had the same problem. Best to stick with the pod speaker.
