Default Brake Upgrades?

Does anyone know if Brembo makes brakes that fit the Crossfire? As I understand, the Crossfire utilizes Mercedes brake parts, but I am not sure what Mercedes models have the same brakes as the Crossfire. Can anyone fill me in? Also, more generally, since the Crossfire is part Mercedes, can anyone fill me in on what parts are pure Mercedes parts - so that I will better know what parts are Crossfire-Mercedes interchangable? Thanks.

TD

Brake pads that fit the MB SLK 320 also fit the Crossfire. Check out the Tech forum for several threads on the subject.

It's safe to say that "almost" everything under the skin is MB parts... engine, transmission etc. If I'm not mistaken the XF suspension is a little different. Other folks here that are more knowledgeable, feel free to jumb in.

According to WMichaels, the 2003 (NOT 2004!) SLK320.

Yes AZ, I'd heard that too. Reviewers have commented too that it is much tighter than the corresponding SLK320, though how much of that has to do with the massive lateral support behind the seats (that the SLK lacks) vs. springs and shocks, I don't know.

Just ordered the Brembo Drilled and Slotted Rotors from Brakeworld
www.brakeworld.com

They recommend the Rotex Golds for street use (best dustless one, in their opinion)

It's installed. See my gallery for pics.
They do make a sound, but not a swoosh, more like woosh  hard to describe. It's not annoying, most 99.98% of people wouldn't notice it.
With the rotors and axxis ultimate pads, I think I can stop in 1 car length...It's that noticable.

Is all you did is front and pads?Cost about 170 for

front rotors? They really feel that much better? On normal or tract driving?

The BrakeWorld site has Brembo rotors for both the front and rear.

12015033CDS AND 12015032CDS

The larger rotors from the SRT6 might be a nice upgrade. When my rotors are shot, I'll be looking into that.

Brembo are installed on front and rear. along with Axxis Ultimate pads front and rear. going to track this weekend. But I can notice a big diff just driving on the street compared to the previous EBC and stock rotors.

I didn't hear good stopping feel as far as the EBC green pads.Maybe that's why you notice a difference. The rotors i'm told by brake guys would only be noticable if you were doing more extreme braking than just normal driving. What do you think?

Brake upgrade specs from the standard to SRT are posted in my previous post. "SRT Specs vs Standard Crossfire"... You can judge the upgrade needed per your mods... If you were racing the car I would definately upgrade... But if you're just cruising around town, why bother...

I'd say track use would be "extreme". No brake fade at all.

I like the EBC pads, I didn't have any issues with them. Will switch them back on this week for street use. The Axxis pad will squeal sometime. At the track...that's ok...on the street...everyone wants the brakes to be quiet.

Pads...like many things can be a preference item. There isn't ONE best pad out there. If that was the case, the other pad mfg can close down shop and go home.

After the EBC wear out, I'll try the Rotex on the front next.

I had EBC Green Stuffs, I went back to stock.

I didn't feel that they grip any better and nothing I did stopped them from squeeling. Not completly at least.
Much less dust though.

I think I'll try Rotex Golds next, also.

Matt

As I said Brakewarehouse tested those EBCs and told them they would not sell them! That's why i went ROTEX.They didn't want the complaints.
