What exactly sets the alarm off on the puppys? I forgot to turn my alarm off and opened the hood (already unlatched), removed the battery tender and closed the hood. No alarm, nothing. I then just tried the locked door latch and nothing. I guess movement does not activate it and only cockpit or glove box entry sets it off? I was hoping if someone hit it in a parking lot or opened the hood or trunk, the alarm would sound.

 

If the car is locked and you jack up the back end high enough it will go off..... I have done it several times putting my DR's on.... VERY annoying! Not sure what other conditions will set it off...

Yes, I know that you can use the switch to disable the tow alarm... but you have to REMEMBER that the alarm is one first....

 

Assuming the alarm in the crossfire is the same as that of the Mercedes R170 (on which it is based), setting the alarm with a door (or hood or hatch) open will allow the alarm to set with that zone not-actrive. Your hood was likely open past the "trigger" point when the alarm was set. To test, you should be able to set the alarm with your windows down and reach in a pop the hood.

worth noting, on my SLK32 I've found that you need to count to 10 (after setting alarm) before you test the alarm by popping the hood or opening a door (or glovebox). Additionally, shutting a door (of a non-set zone) will not make that zone "active"; the alarm needs to be disarmed and then reset for that zone to become active again.

there is no bump or proximity alarm in the crossfire as it is shipped ... though both can be added and work in conjunction with the factory alarm.
