Default NEED HELP WITH GEAR DISPLAY, AND MIRRORS

HELLO, I JUST BOUGHT MY CROSSFIRE COUPE LIMITED IN MEXICO CITY(2004) WITH A MANUAL 6 SPEED GEAR, I READ THE OWNERLS MANUAL AND IT SAYS THAT NEXT TO THE CLOCK THERES A DISPLAY THAT SHOWS THE GEAR YOU ARE IN (1-6,R), I SAW IT WORKING ON AN AUTOMATIC BUT IT DOESNT WORK ON MINE, THE QUESTION IS IF ITS ALSO SUPPOSED TO WORK ON MANUAL 6 SPEED GEAR? DOES ANYBODY HAVE A 6 SPEED GEAR WITH THE GEAR DISPLAY SCREEN WORKING?

WHEN READING THE OWNERLS I READ THAT THE CAR HAS A BUTTON TO DESFROST THE SIDE MIRRORS, WHERE IS THIS BUTTON LOCATED OR HOW DO YOU USE THE DESFROST FUNCTION?
ALSO READ THAT YOU CAN TURN ON AND OFF THE LIGHT DIMMER FUNCTION OF THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, WHERE IS THIS BUTTON LOCATED?

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!! HOPE I GET REPLIES SOON!

I'm not sure there are heated mirrors.

As for the gear display, this is for auto gearboxes only.

Here in the USA, heated outside mirrors generally have a little icon on the mirror glass itself. My 2004 Crossfire has no such icon on it's mirrors. But interestingly enough, accordingly to Chrysler web site, "Power Heated Fold-Away Mirrors" was standard on 2004's. For 2005, Limited's and SRT's come with same, standard Coupe and Roadster just have "Power Fold-Away Mirrors". I will have to look in my manual to see what it says, my guess is they come on with the same button that enables the rear window defroster.

Saldous, maybe this is another 'standard feature' you UK folks don't get?

Seems to me for what manual driving I have done in my life I ALWAYS >KNEW< what gear I was in.

As for disabling the auto-dim on the rear view mirror, first I've heard of that. I guess if you disconnected the wire it wouldn't dim any more, sine the dimming is electrochromic, but unknown if removing power would leave it in "normal" or "dimmed" mode :?:  :?:

So maybe us UK folks dont get tyre pressure monitors, don't get heated mirrors, don't get luggage, the remote sensor / garage door opener is useless and we pay more for our cars than you Yanks! Jeez, DC have screwed us big time. :-(

i read the auto-dimming mirror gets disabled when the car is in reverse only, for visibility reasons.

Bienvenido al foro, yo tambien soy de Mexico, parece que ya somos dos mexicanos aqui adentro.

El display solo aplica para los automaticos y los espejos se desempaan automaticamante cada vez que prendes el defostrer trasero.

Hmmm... I think that means something along the lines of:

Welcome to the forum, I am Mexican also, seems that already we have two Mexican's here inside.

The display applies for the automatic only and the mirrors demist automatically whenever you engage the back defroster.

For k0ol: I believe MEXICANCROSSFIRE said in another thread that he works for a dealership down your way.

I spoke to my dealer about these features and some other ones as well and here is what I discovered:

1) The Gear display is only active from the AutoStick. For the purpose of showing the driver what gear they are when they are manually shifting the auto.

2) The heated mirrors are only available on Limited and SRT-6 version of the XF05. The are activited by :
A) Turning the rear defroster on
B) Turning the heater in the car on or your heated seats.

3) As for auto dimming mirror, I did not ask, how ever I remember seeing a little button uder the mirror, that could be depressed. This may de-activite/activite the auto dim feature.

4) I have question of my own. I know a standard feature in the MB world was to turn the passanger side mirror down and in when the car goes in reverse. This feature was to help with parking on streets. Since the XF is mostly a MB. Does it have the feature?

The 2004 does not have that feature (unfortunately). I have not read anything saying the 2005 has it either.

That is too bad, I had the feature in 2001 C240 MB and boy it was nice when backing up to park on street. You get the car in nice and snug. Oh well I though I would ask.

Hi Ken,

you're right, that would have been a very nice feature since the mirrors don't exacly feature a huge field of vision to begin with ;-) and these rims are very low and close to the curb.

An off topic question:

What are the benfits of being an XFi member and how does one sign up?

The whole XFi thread is under the "Meets" forum and contact REDCROSS to sign on... https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...pic.php?t=2092

No real benifits... just the idea of belonging and maybe the first steps towards a chartered club some day.
