Automatic Tranny
Has anyone else have this problem? I have a 2005 roadster with 43,000 miles. Third gear seems to "flatten" out when I "goose" it a bit. The rest of the gears are fine, its a little weird and happens all the time. The RPM's drop and them shifts into fourth with no problems with the other gears. It doesnt seem to happen in AutoStick mode. No codes were thrown the last time I was at my dealer. Any help is appreciated.

Woody,
It doesnt feel like the tranny is slipping just kinda flattens out, seems fine and there is power to the wheels. It happens for only seconds and then runs thru the RPM's. If I keeps the RPM's over 4000 it doesnt happen. BTW thanks for your response.

Gary, the cars, especially the autos seem to learn our driving habits. I like to do the throttle reset especially after long trips with normal driving. If you like to "hot dog" the car all the time, then she will be crisp with it shifts....but if you just drive normal or less than normal, it will short shift rather than wind out further...I use to think this was nonsense but the car does this...
oledoc2u,
Thanks for the information. You mentioned resetting the throttle, how is this accomplished? If I used the auto stick more often would that help it learn crisper shifts? I appreciated your quick response.

I like to remove the positive battery cable for a few minutes to clear everything, but there is another way.
Turn the key to on position without starting the car.
Push the throttle all the way to the floor.
Hold it there for the count of 5
Without letting up on the throttle, turn the key to the off position.
This may take a couple of tries to see any results.
Now, you have to go drive the car for awhile a little more spirited for it to learn your new driving style. If you just go back and putter around, that is what it will learn. Good luck...hope this works for you.
