Use your phone to record the noise before you take it in for service,, so you have a record, Cant hurt. Woody

Yea thats a good idea, I have paperwork from the dealership and two other repair facilities that say it needs to be replaced, but it wasnt good enough for them to approve the work until they see the damaged parts. thanks again

DIAGNOSTIC CHART
CONDITION POSSIBLE CAUSES CORRECTION
WHEEL NOISE 1. Wheel loose. 1. Tighten loose wheel bolts.
2. Faulty wheel hub bearing. 2. Replace bearing.
DIFFERENTIAL CRACKED 1. Improper adjustment of the
differential bearings.
1. Replace differential.
2. Excessive ring gear backlash. 2. Replace differential.
3. Erratic clutch operation. 3. Replace differential.
DIFFERENTIAL GEARS SCORED
1. Insufficient lubrication.
1. Replace differential. Fill
differential with the correct fluid type
and quantity.
2. Improper grade of lubricant.
2. Replace differential. Fill
differential with the correct fluid type
and quantity.
LOSS OF LUBRICANT
1. Lubricant level too high.
1. Drain lubricant to the correct
level.
2. Worn differential side seals. 2. Replace seals.
3. Cracked differential housing. 3. Replace as necessary.
4. Worn pinion seal. 4. Replace seal.
5. Worn/scored yoke. 5. Replace yoke and seal.
6. Differential cover not properly
sealed.
6. Remove, clean, and reseal cover.
AXLE OVERHEATING 1. Lubricant level low. 1. Fill differential to correct level.
2. Improper grade of lubricant.
2. Fill differential with the correct
fluid type and quantity.
GEAR TEETH BROKE 1. Overloading. 1. Replace differential.
2. Erratic clutch operation. 2. Replace differential.
3. Ice-spotted pavement. 3. Replace differential.
4. Improper adjustments. 4. Replace differential.
DIFFERENTIAL NOISE

My rear was howling, and i have a wave trac in it ,,it is going to unatrax for a complete check up ,,it comes out of the car tomorrow ,,where i will look inside it,
mine howls from low rpm (loud) to 74 mph then in the howling goes away, it does it on acceleration and de acceleration jim

yea mine originally only did it on constant load past 60 mph, now it does it on acceleration, deacceleration and is really loud past 70 mph

you know my differential has the wavetrac in it. and was/is the test diff for untrax, because it has been in my car 18 months/ 118 1/4 mile runs at the drag strip plus testing on the street, so Devin at untrax is going to inspect it for any abnormal wear, through the diff no just the wavetrac. jim

Oh did not know that, I plan on having mine torn down in like two weeks or so, so hopefully the warranty company covers it, thanks again for the advice
