I bought a portable tablet that I use for my GPS, totaly portable. I am trying to figure out how to mount it. I thought about the glove box?....
This way the passenger can be the co-pilot or I can spin it on an angle where I can still use it. Mine is voice rompt as well as voice activated, so actully seeing it isno't always necessary........

Beautiful work. Perhaps one of the best interior mods I have seen on this forum.

Unfortunately, it is not a mod that I would install. As a musician and composer when I listen to music I am off in another world. Specifically, I cannot listen to Brahms 1st Symphony or Wagner Tristan when I am driving; I forget what I am doing - driving. While there is music that works well when I do drive, I generally prefer listening to the engine and the road. Each road, like each piano I play, has its own soul its own sound. I love the the sound of driving: the wind, the bumps and holes, and even the bugs hitting the dash. What a sound! When I drive I don't want or need a computer talking to me - leave me alone. Let the road sing - that is driving music.

While I think this is cool, you are scaring me folks. Except for the stereo and navigation, what are we doing? Are we really watching DVDs and reading e-mail while we drive? The Crossfire stereo does require some tuning to get it to your taste, but every passenger has been impressed.

As for the Zen moments of just listening to the engine, that's great. But this isn't a car you waltz with, it's meant to rock and roll.

I am sure you all enjoy your cars the way you would like to. Look to a 36 month window before most luxury vehicles have some type of touch screen multi-level product intergration....

OEM headunits will be a thing of the past. Steering wheel controls standard. GUI interface will drive the system with realtime travel weather, xm radio, and satelite nav and DVD. Emergency program buttons for hospital navigation and authorties closest to your location (using satelite geo cordinates) One unit will do everything. It will be rolled out very soon in several SUV brands and then most other vehicles within five years.

Bosch and Becker have been working on these units for Merc, BMW and Volkswagen. Ford is on the wagon too here in the states.

I think ChrisG is very innovative and has produced a great result. I wish I had an install like that.

D/C should think seriously about adding it!

Now if only the Heating/Cooling controls could be built in to the touch screen controls, and then the vents could be re-installed.

Chris: So how much did this end up costing you to do?

I am really impressed!
I am puting together the plans to control the heating/cooloing with the PC on my mod. Have found all of the pards just need to build it and write the code to control it all.
