Car wanting to stall all of a sudden!
So I went on a week long road trip to LA with my daughter in her car because she didn't want to sit in a Crossfire that long. I get back and drive the Crossfire for a day or so and everything is fine, but then I take it to my local mechanic to repair the seat not wanting to change position so they replace the power relay switch. About 30 minutes after I pick it up it starts hesitating when I accelerate and wanting to stall at lights and stop signs. This has never happened before so I call the mechanic but he says they only worked on the inside of the car so couldn't be related to the repair. Weird coincidence though! Any ideas? First thing I checked was that my gas receipt said Super just incase I made a mistake and put in regular unleaded. Thanks in advance!
Crankshaft position sensor most likely. My car did the same thing and I got a replacement from autozone for $50, no problems since. Do u have a check engine light?
Nope..no check engine light. Where is this item under the hood that you are thinking it is?
You know how you can go to Autozone and they attach something to your car and can tell you what's wrong? Do you think it would be able to tell if that's the problem without any warning lights lit? I need to buy one of those thick manuals that the mechanics use so I can see how to do things.
Hey Mrmiata! How are you doing? things have been going smoothly so I haven't been here since October '12. Would it be the crankshaft position sensor if the check engine light isn't coming on? I did just find someone that posted where exactly that is on the Crossfire but also saw someone else..doing the same thing on a different car and ended up resetting the codes after he installed it *this was a mechanic*. Is that something that has to be done on the Crossfire?
Been good! Heading to your neck of the woods next week.. (CAA#4). It has been known to be an issue without a cel being thrown. I don't think I had to reset my light when I replaced.. but that has been a while back. You could always disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes and this would reset it too. And actually after a few starts.. seems like I had read 20.. it will reset when fixed. Not a hard job to do.. just be sure to get the Bosch brand if at all possible.
Oh.. and I like that "going smoothly" statement after your last round of fun! LOL.

Yeah that's the trip.. Alpine, TX and Fortworth.. If Autozone doesn't have a life time or at least decent warranty.. give Advanced Auto a call! Seems quite a few members have had issues with the Autozone one!
Oh... and here you will find that thick manual you mentioned.. LOL

look at you answering my questions before I ask them! Advanced Auto has one by BWD for $54.99 which also has the lifetime warranty. so BWD or Duralast? Alpine..have to mapquest where that is. Thanks for that link...it just prove to be helpful to me to have that book. I'm assuming it gives instructions on doing stuff like this..with pictures I would hope. No pictures..then it's no good.

Actually one member thought she had a cps issue (was fuel filter) and got the vendor to next day it to her.
Oh.. and a little install tip.. when you get the little bolt broke loose that holds it.. use a piece of duct tape or masking tape on top of it before taking it all the way out.. wedges the bolt into the socket and saves you from playing "where did it go".. same thing when you install it back.. Trust me on this one and don't ask how I know.. LOL
