Default What is this??

We're under the battery tray (tray removed) on an SRT6 coupe. What is this thin gray tube (that has been severed by deterioration from battery acid). It comes out of the firewall on the passenger side (under the battery tray) and then routes toward the center of the car but disappears (goes back into the firewall?) there. Can someone tell me what this tube is and what it does? I'm thinking I can put both ends into a slightly larger piece of tubing for a snug fit and kind of "splice" it back together. Thanks for sharing your expertise . . .

Yes, that is exactly how you repair the vacuum feed to the A/C - heater diverter door solenoid.
There's a thread on here somewhere about that.

I was just reading

Battery Acid + Paint = BAD NEWS!

when you provided that other link.

STOP . . . I'm becoming over-educated. I'm ready for my oral quiz (does that have anything to do with sex?)

At the end of this course, you will henceforth be known universally as the "Gray Line Dude",
like TJ is the "RCM Dude"
and pizzaguy is the "Convertible Top Dude".

Onehundred80 is, of course, the "Everything Dude"

OK - The acid damage areas have been cleaned and refinished, the vacuum tube has been spliced and the battery tray was glass beaded and refinished. Letting all the paint dry overnight and will re-install everything tomorrow. Thanks for the informative support!
