With the new wheels, the length of both that was threaded through the hub was greater than with the stock wheels and you most certainly damaged the parking brake components. The reason they are not making as much noise now is it's just the the stuff is just bouncing around off the side of the drum vs being continuously struck with the extra length of the lug bolts.

You'll need to remove the rear rotors and determin what parts are damaged. You could be lucky and only need to buy new shoes but I'm guessing you're gonna need more than that. To remove the rotor, you will need to remove the calipers as well but you can do so without disconnecting anything, just remove the bolts, wiggle the caliper off the rotor, remove the torx bolt that is holding the rotor onto the hub and start looking at what's going on behind the hub.

It would appear you need two pull-back springs (A 201 423 06 92) and while you're replacing them, I'd pick up and replace the four extension springs (A 201 423 05 92) that hold the brake shoes to the backing plate as well since it looks like the lug bolts got ahold of them too.
