Mysterious clap
Hello,
this problem occurred maybe within the last 100 miles. whenever im in gear and disengage on the clutch, i hear a clap sound. it ONLY sounds in the rear driver side like something is stuck to the wheel well and hitting against a plastic/metal part. when i depress the clutch all the way is disappears and only when i let go it starts again and in gear. i looked underneath and didnt see anything wrong with the suspension or brakes so im leaning towards the transmission. i know it's a little vague but any ideas may help. thanks!

you need to get under the car, on a car lift would be great, and look at the area where the shock mount is at the body. If not a shock mount, then look at the drive shaft flex discs.
thanks for the response, ill check that out this weekend when i get some free time. its just weird because once i let go of the clutch the rattling appears. when driving normally and on highways, going over bumps wont trigger it. only when i'm below 40mph and drop the clutch and maybe under heavy braking.
Have someone stand next to the rear wheel on the side where the click is coming from, if the brake pad has broken loose it will sound like a clap, if you just had your brakes done then they or you installed the wrong size brake pads, a test would be to pull the e brake and see it it claps . jim
