Used TCM Need Reprogramming or Not?
I bought a used transmission control module which I plan to install in my 2004 Coupe. The used TCM I bought is also from a 2004 Coupe. Does this TCM need reprogramming before it will work? I've been through all the threads on the TCM and there are both "yes" and "no" answers. It seems to work without programming for some and not for others. Can someone straighten this out? Also, my factory manual says there is a "Quick Learn" procedure that requires a special scan tool. However, does the term "Quick Learn" mean that the there is also a "slow learn" procedure that doesn't require the scan tool, but just a certain number of driving cycles?
Short answer is NO. No programing is required if the new TCM came out of a working car of the same elk as yours.....example NA to NA or SRT6 into a SRT6
I have a spare tuned SRT6 TCM that can moved between other SRT6 's.

Thanks for the reply. Checked with a local MB shop and they said the same thing.
There is a reset function that some swear by but basically the TCU will "learn" your driving habits and if you drive it more aggressivly the tranny will respond in like manner. baby it and it may become a bit sluggish.
