Aftermarket key fob car wont start
Hopefully someone has an idea why this is happening. I recently switched out all the parts of my original key fob (transponder chip, blade, etc.) into an new key fob case. The remote operates the door locks but when I try to start the car it runs for about two seconds and then quits. It does this three times and them the starter seems to disable because when the ignition is turned nothing happens at all. I then used the original spare key and everything works fine. What am I missing? BTW, car is a 2005 SRT6.
Best guess is the chip is not in the exact same spot as the OEM one? I had one slip back about 1/4 of an inch or so and got to go back in to it for this reason.
Thanks MrMiata, turns out the chip wasn't in there at all. It must fallen out when I took the old fob apart and I had no idea it was missing. Fortunately I actually found the little guy. Everything works perfect now. Would have never found it without the replies.
LOL.. that thought had crossed my mind.. but wasn't going to doubt "you transferred it".. Glad you got it sorted..
Just ran into the same problem myself this morning. Last night I had my first encounter with the RCM. Had me stranded at work at 3am. Of course I hit this web site immediately on my phone and was able to get the car to start. Drove home with no issues. This morning I decided to swap my keychain case with one I ordered on eBay (before checking to see if my car would start today). Then went outside and tried to start it with new fob case and did the famous 2x start and stop thing. Thought it was still an RCM issue from last night and removed the RCM and did the solder repair. Reinstalled and same thing over and over. Didn't even register to me to think of the transponder chip. I never swapped it over! Duhhh! Feel like an idiot. I drove my other car to work today so I will swap over the chip in the morning. Should be what is causing the issue.
One thing I have a question about is the locks do not actuate at all when car is not running. Both on the switches at the console and key fob. Key fob will not actuate them in either state (running or not) even with original case before the swap. Any clues as to the cause of this? Thanks in advance.

Swapped out the transponder to the new key fob and everything is working. Found that the fuse was missing under the hood that controls the map light and door locks. So I replaced with proper fuse and now all keyless entry systems work and map light works. Glad I don't have any SKREEM issues.
