3.5 V-6 IN 06 Crossfires ?
Just read in C & D March issue that M.Benz is bringing out 3.5 Es earley this spring ,maybe they'll put it in the 06 Crossfires to bring up performance #s on the stock XFire.
The price increase will be minimal a few hundred$..
They also plan to replace all 3.2s with 3.5 in C class.
That and the new 7 speed auto would be sweet in a Crossfire.
Next a 5.5 V-8 hah!

I think it's actually cheaper for them to build 1 engine instead of both .That's why they would put it in Crossfires. 20,000+ units a year is alot of engines. I think that's 2x as many SLKs a year !

If the 3.5 ends up in the xfire (which I doubt), I would be very, VERY surprised if the price didn't increase by at least 50% of what the SLK's increase was - I imagine you could tack an extra 3k onto the current price, minimum.
However, I doubt that the 3.5 could even go in our cars - remember the new SLK 350 is a completely new chassis as well, with a completely new transmission and drive train. The 350 has VVT, four valves and dual cams. The xfire would need a lot of mods to accept that powerplant (I think - again, I don't know everything, so I could be wrong on this).
Well as the C&D story was on the 3.5 going into the E class and C class cars instead of the 3.2 that means they'll not be making many 3.2s anymore ! so why make them if all things performance wise is better they can drop it into the Crossfire too.And the cost increase was a few hundred in the E and C cars !!!!!!That far from 3k or more that the new SLK isn't.Check V6 price not the 4 banger kompressor.
Hi,
We just drove the new SLK350 today, which is a lot heavier than the crossfire, and frankly the difference wasnt worth the extra money.. infact the acceleration seemed to be very docile.. we figured the wider tires on the Crossfire had something to do with this.. all in all the car we tested was just shy of 50k and seeing as you can buy a new crossfire for 27k or less .. it doesnt take a rocket scientist long to figure the Crossfire is good value

I've seen the newSLK 3.5 but don't care for the looks or big price.
But this thread is about DC putting the 3.5 V-6 in the XF.That would be another 40 hp.
