Our key(the flip one) need to hold. The newer Mercedes has smart key(no metal part seen) can have the auto start.
I have the flip key, and it takes no where near a second. I have done it several times, twisting to start and back as fast as I can and it starts every time. Take your hand, act like you are holding your key and clockwise 180 and back as fast as you can. Thats how fast I have been able to twist and start.

I don;t know if that is still considered needing to be held or not. Its definitely not a smart key like mercedes though.

I always liked those same Lorinser wheels, I was considering them myself actually. They look great!

But take off the Mercedes emblems! They look so cheesey on a Chrysler, no offense.

Honestly its like putting Lexus emblems on your Toyota.

Isn't that what Toyota does.

The Xfire is made in Germany with all German or Euro parts by Germans with Benz SLK platform and most all other parts,,,, what's the Cheesey part is they put Chrsyler Emblems on it .

I'm happy they put "cheesey" Chrysler emblems on the XF... now i'm driving a brand new ~$55,000 (?) "Mercedes" but i only paid $24,500 from my local dealer!!!

And, to me, the XF is 100 times better looking than any SLK! Or C-class, or E, or even CLK for that matter. I would never buy a SLK because they are too small and, frankly, come off as a "chick car" to me... like a BMW Z3, Mini Cooper, or Mazda Miata... But, maybe that's just me.

But, i would love to have a:

SLR McLaren 5.4 V-8SC engine ($455,000) 0-60 in 3.6sec
E55 AMG 5.4 V-8SC engine ($76,720) 0-60 in 4.2sec
CLK55 AMG 5.4 V-8 engine ($79,400) 0-60 in 4.8sec
C55 AMG 5.4 V-8 engine ($54,620) 0-60 in 4.9sec

Serious stock performance! All conversions would be faster than a stock SRT-6 (4.9sec), because the XF is lighter than all the above Mercedes models.

Is anyone else besides me wondering how there is such a massive difference in performance (price too) between the E55 and SLR when both have the "same" engines?!? Can the E55 simply be chipped & tuned to match the SLR's dyno numbers?

I wonder what a turn-key C55 AMG 5.4 V-8 engine lists as? And, how much the Super Charger conversion that the E55 has adapted would cost? Also, curious what the warranty numbers are for these factory Mercedes engines?

How much heavier are the V-8 engines? How much heavier is the new SLK?
a.) car weight?
b.) engine weight

new SLK350 3.5 V-6 engine ($53,325) 0-60 in 5.4sec

Looking at the numbers, the 5.4 V-8 seems like the "economical" (tongue in cheek) choice for a conversion. The possibility of adding the stock Mercedes Super Charger, and also the possibility that the engine may be even further tuned (as evidenced by the SLR's performance numbers) make the conversion extremely intriguing. Not to mention the factory engine warranty! I believe Mercedes has a considerable mileage/year warranty.

But, would a heavier V-8 really hurt the driving feel of the XF as compared to a lighter V-6? Probably not, huh?

Intriguing, nevertheless...

All performance changes in the SRT6 is the AMG engine, lighter wheels, and rear different gears, just to drop 0-60 time !

I think the important thing to note is that we love this car because of the way it looks, it is the style and design of it that sets it apart from other cars. that aspect is due in large part to chrysler design. Yes, Mercedes made the meat of the car, but is that what makes the car so special? Not to me, its the design, Chrysler deserves that credit. Mercedes is a great car company and they make very hot looking cars these days, but they do not make modern hot rods, chrysler does that. With all that said, I think mercedes logos are not out of place on this car because of the great collaboration between mercedes and chrysler. This is truly a unique combination of two car companies, they both deserve credit and association with the product. Now product service is another problem, they still need to figure that part out!

Hi there,

I would like to see your wheels Lorinser LM6

Could you post a picture of them installed on your car.

The ones you have placed are not visible.

I was thinking of them as summer wheels and keeping the original xfire wheels for the winter times.

What modifications did you have to make, so they will fit your car?

And where would it be possible to buy those replicas?

Best regards,
