Check Engine Light came on after water pump installation...
2006 XFire Lmtd - Took it in for a routine oil change and they said it was needing a new water pump - slight leak. Car has 12K miles on it...they replaced the water pump under the life-time warranty. When I picked it up I got a 1/2 block away and the check engine light came on, took it back, they cleared the code - said it was tied to an 'insurance monitor' (like Allstate, etc.) which I do not have...then we realized they had tried to 'read' the car's stats electronically through the port and an IPad...so we thought that's what it was...got a 1/2 block away again and then came back on...so they worked through it and now don't know why it keeps coming on...they said they're code reader is 'version 5' and the code needs 'version 7' so they need to borrow the card reader from another dealer...they do have an XFire certified guy (he's retiring) but he's looked after the car since new. Anyone have a similar experience, maybe knows what's going on? Did they're plugging in the port do something. Thanks so much!!
Insurance monitor, IDK. Banks, sometimes install a GPS to track their investment: That isn't wired to be read, thur the OBD port. Is this a new car ?
I've had it since new...turns out it was the MAP sensor...they damaged it when working on the car...glad they owned up to it and fixed it...thanks so much!!
