Hi Guys and Girls wonder if anyone can help..air con has never worked ..to day I had it regas"d I was told everything work but no cold air..compressor is working blend doors work ..new controller in car replaced ,,that's the one with the AC switch on it ..engineer has no idea why it's not working can any one help..
first, what are the R134 gauge readings and at what ambient temperature ?
second, is the line going to the diverter valve ( it's mounted on the firewall, little rectangular thingey ) COLD ?
third, you are in England fer God's sake, you don't need no stinkin AC !
Hi there thank you for writing back ..I know what you mean about the weather but it's 25 c now unbelievable..OK not sure about the details ..they are ac engineers ,,the said everything was working ,,the temperature was the same as outside not cold at all ..pipe easy not cold .
The reason I asked about the ambient temperature is that it directly impacts what the high and low readings should be for the R134 pressures ( I have a chart for that ).
You should be able to feel the COLD in the upper pipe ( the one with the test port ) under the bonnet.
I you don't, then there is no freon circulation. Might be a bad diverter valve.
CORRECTION : What I called a 'diverter valve' is actually an 'expansion valve'.
Look to the inside of the big black brake booster against the firewall, you will see a silver thing with a round top-hat.
That's it.
Be aware that to replace it, a complete evacuation and recharge is required, and it's illegal here to just vent the freon, probably there too.
Requires a dedicated machine to accomplish that task.
And, anytime you do this, you also need to replace the drier-receiver ( part # 12 ).
( the valve is part #26 below, and the hose that should be cold is part # 6 )

Guys I had to move this - redirect will last one week.
How can they say the A/C is charged without the evap side getting cold? IS the compressor running (when A/C is selected, the 'clutch' on the compressor locks up & the shaft of the compressor gets turned by the belt) Does the fan run inside the car when you select A/C? Too many conflicting things here.
