Default Roadster power seat module/relay location

Hi Guys
I am in the UK and my wife has owned a Roadster from new (2007) and it has fallen upon me to work on it (even tho I am 75) as the local dealership has closed down.
I find it far too complicated after my MGB and E type jag and dont see why it needs all these silly modules.
The car was off the road for 8 months because the Screem module went and a new one had to be got from germany then they had to send it to Fiats in Italy to get it programmed so after a bill of nearly £1k we got it back.
The current problem is with the seat module, there is no 12v coming out of it so I have temporarily strapped fuses 21/22 to a fused 12v supply to allow the adjustment of the seats but despite numerous references to the module I cannot find it.
The car is of course RHD and on the LHD ones it says that the module is behind the left airvent but using a torch and removing the side panel and underneath of the dash panel I cannot see anything like it so if it is there somewhere do I dismantle the glove box and all bits round it to find it?
Hoping someone can help.
Happy motoring!
Gerry

The seat relay is the black cube sitting against that greenish sound damping mat. The steering column is on the right of the picture. (LHD) See also the relay repair/replacement how to attached.

Hi Onehunred80

Thanks for the info but looking in the flap on the side with the 2 set screws I can see the matting but no black box, is it the same on the RHD?

Best regards
Gerry

Hi Onehundred

Thanks, what we need is someone who has sorted the problem on a RHD car but I dont think there are many of those about.

Hi Guys
Thanks for your help so far and I have established it is indeed on the right hand side by listening to the operation of the door switch in a quiet period and a clicking can be heard from the right side beside the steering column so tomorrow I will dismantle it.

Best regards

That makes sense, flip the wiring harness over 180 degrees and it goes from a LHD to a RHD.

Hi Guys

All now fixed and we have power seats again. It was of course the relay and I resoldered 6 bad joints.
For those people following this thread who have UK cars the relay is mounted close to the steering column on the A post side so you have to remove the 5 screws holding the front section of the underdash/front of dash and drop it down then remove the fusebox cover and it will be visible beside the column on the back of the firewall.

So where will I have to look next for dry joints?

Thanks for your help.

Gerry

The relay is on the left side of the steering wheel, you can reach in through the air vent and pull it out if you have a small hand to change it!! other wise it is a pain in the butt to get everything apart
